About this ebook

I had plenty more questions, but Nancy wasn’t interested in my exploration of hypotheticals, nor my probing questions to get to the heart of how Stride’s character was changing.
She was cuddled up to me, trying to get intimate. At first she only brushed aside my hair, as if it was long enough to get into my face, or she’d put a hand on my thigh, asking for my attention. But then she slid her face up against mine. And soon she was kissing my cheek and neck.
“Stop. Look...”
“Tell me you’re not wet,” Nancy said. “Tell me you didn’t start thinking about our time together the moment you realized I was involved. Tell me you aren’t thinking about how we ground ourselves together—and tell me you’re not wanting a repeat performance.”

After surviving two assassination attempts unscathed (her lovers were not so lucky—one, Dawes, was injured, and a second, Karli, died) things are finally looking up for Evie, a.k.a. the seductive Burglar known as the Wolf. A lead has taken her and Fowler—Dawes’ husband and private eye partner—to New York City where they can conduct their investigation (and have sex) from a base of operations in one of the Wolf’s many homes.

But an even stronger lead turns up with Dawes. Fowler and the Wolf are ready to celebrate her recovery, but Dawes reveals that she has been visited by a woman. It turns out that this mystery woman is both another former lover of the Wolf and also is married to the Wolf’s adversary.

Of course, to be certain, and find out all the details they need to tackle the Wolf’s enemy, the Wolf needs to speak with Nancy face to face. And to be certain that no details are left out, and to ensure that Nancy doesn’t tell her husband about the visit, the Wolf is going to have to make love to her—a real hardship.

Warning: contains explicit descriptions of adult behavior.

Old Lovers is part 5, following Illicit Art, Detective, Seduced, Fun in the Den, and Earning Her Keep of The Wolf in the Sheep’s Den a novel to be serialized weekly. The Wolf previously appeared in another standalone novel, The Wolf, Seductive Burglar.

    About the Author

After we finished fucking, Fowler and I were both quick to get dressed again. We each packed up a few changes of clothes (plus some things for Dawes to wear when she got out of the hospital—we didn’t want her to risk coming back to the apartment), and Fowler grabbed a few tools of the trade. Then we left. I left with no intention of coming back, even to sell my furniture—Dawes and Fowler could keep or sell any of it. Though Fowler had no clue how long he would be away.

We went to a hotel, but not directly. Neither of us saw anyone watching when we left the building, but we didn’t want to take any chances. We drove halfway across London three times talking all sorts of odd turns until we felt satisfied that no one was following us. Then we had to ditch Fowler’s car. I nearly convinced him to break into a car, but we rented another vehicle on a credit card from an identity I hadn’t used before, and could at least hope would be secure.

Finally, we could show up at the hotel. Again, I used that fake identity to check in.

We kissed when we got into the hotel room. As promised after fucking before we left his apartment, we fucked again. But it was a quickie—a bit of in-out in-out without the need for any foreplay. And when we came down from our orgasms. We were both sheepish about what we’d done. We were finally sated enough to be sheepish about where we’d had our first fuck today. Their apartment was an exposed location. An assassin, or at least a spy, could have interrupted us.

Not to say that we wouldn’t fuck again. And at the next reasonable opportunity. But the opportunity wouldn’t come for a while. We were busy with work, determined to use our time to track down whoever had hired the assassin. We occasionally exchanged lustful glances. But we never kissed, or even approached each other except with work.

Fowler set up a couple of laptops so we could work.

    We could get traced.

I’m aware of that, Fowler said. It’s been a while. I’m more used to cracking these things. But I should be able a few redirects to make us untraceable.

I shook my head. Let the pro step in.

    Fowler looked
