About this ebook

I had not expected Fowler to be the next one—between him and his wife—that I slept with. We probably shouldn’t have done it in their apartment, but we probably had time before the next assassin was sent. Likely, our adversary didn’t know yet that the first assassin had failed. Certainly, there hadn’t been time to hire another. And any decent assassin would want a little time to research and prepare even if I adversary was paying for a rushed job.
Anyway, Fowler was already guiding me back to the bedroom. Where we would have guns handy if any more assassins tried to interrupt our sex.
He tossed me onto the bed and started to crawl towards me, caressing my leg as he passed.

Evie, aka the seductive burglar known as the Wolf, is on the run. Some enemy uncovered her identity and killed her lover (and would be art-theft victim) Karli. Her adversary’s agents have chased her halfway across Europe—into the helpful arms of two detectives.

The Wolf sought out Dawes and Fowler, hoping they would aid her in finding her enemy—and sleep with her at every turn. They only do the first grudgingly; the second eludes her so far, although they had both slept with her before. There are hints she might have a chance with Lydia Dawes. But her head, and their concentration, needs to be on uncovering the true enemy.

While Dawes and Fowler work, the Wolf is locked up in their building; not supposed to leave, or they’ll cut off their aid. When she does leave—if to investigate someone staking out Dawes and Fowler’s apartment—Dawes and Fowler force her to stay constantly in their sight.

It’s a good thing she has to stay close to Dawes—because now the Wolf is with her when another assassin arrives. She just saves Dawes’ life.

And for her reward? It looks like Fowler will end that boycott on sex.

Warning: contains explicit descriptions of adult behavior.

Earning Her Keep is part 4, following Illicit Art, Detective, Seduced, and Fun in the Den, of The Wolf in the Sheep’s Den a novel to be serialized weekly. The Wolf previously appeared in another standalone novel, The Wolf, Seductive Burglar.

    About the Author

Dawes and Fowler loosened up around me over the next few days. Somewhat. They shared material from the investigation with me, with very little prompting. But that didn’t mean I got to sleep with them, either.

Occasionally, when it was just me and Dawes, when Fowler wasn’t nearby, we’d talk, we’d almost connect. When I tried to seduce her, though, she demurred. I was, apparently, one of the only people in the world her husband forbade her to fuck. There were hints that that might change. There were even hints that Dawes might get tired of waiting and fuck me before Fowler was ready to give the okay (or before he was ready to fuck me himself).

    We had a cordial relationship.

When it was just Fowler and me in the apartment, we either ignored each other, or ended up at each other’s throats. Now, I wasn’t actively tried to get Fowler angry, but I definitely have a way of teasing Fowler that I should be careful about. Fowler was worse, though. He taunted me; he threatened me. Not that I believed he would carry through with any of his threats. But it really was best to have us stay apart. Fowler just couldn’t get over our first adventure. Before he stopped my theft, I had embarrassed him. He didn’t like that I’d used him while I had him naked. He didn’t like that, when he gave me some measure of comeuppance, I was fully clothed—I didn’t even have a little leg showing.

The only time Fowler and I were at all cordial was when Dawes was around. No, it wasn’t that we were both on our best behavior for her. But she had a moderating effect on both of us.

Of course, it probably didn’t help that Fowler was the one who had to go out and get me a wardrobe while Dawes stayed with me, during my second day staying with them (mostly because, under my influence, Fowler had fucked his
