Poems of Prayer and Thought - Yvonne (Bonnie) Parks
Soul
SECTION ONE: ANGELS
ANGELS 1
Everyday people
Who reach out
A helping hand
To those along their walk.
To help lift a shoulder or
Steady a faltering step.
To offer the light of their own lanterns
When other grows dim
Or
Lift our lanterns
When we grow weary.
ANGELS 2
Angels
Come
In all different
Sizes and ages.
Some wear
Flowing
Gowns of white
Others wear
T shirts and sneakers
For we all
Are
God’s Angel
Here on earth.
Helping Him
As He helps other
On their Christian walk.
DURING CHURCH
Quietly
The angels come
Silently
In answer to our pleas.
Surrounding us
Uplifting us.
Protecting us.
Joining us
As we praise
Our Lord and Saviour.
Thank-you Lord.
THE MIRACLES OF FRIENDS
Friends
Do not know
The small miracles
They perform
Every day Just by
Being there
Listening
Caring
Sharing
Thank-you
For being there
For being God’s Miracle Worker
When He needed
Another earthly angel.
STREET ANGELS
Lankly and lean
They walk the streets
Patrolling
Looking out
For anyone in need
The homeless, the orphans
Caring for the sick
Helping single moms
By babysitting.
Lending a helping hand
To the handicapped
Or one less fortunate
Then themselves.
Rough and Tumble
God’s Street Angels.
ANGELS 3
Angels
Do you know that they are everywhere?
Beside us
Daily.
Sometimes
Their battle armor
Outshines
Their heavenly robes.
Sometimes
The joy of celebration, prayer and praise
Outshines them.
But everyday
They walk beside us.
Our constant companions
Send by Our Lord
To help comfort and support
His people
On their daily walk
On this earth.
Thank-you Lord.
ANGELS 4
Our Heavenly Father
Sends
His angels
To walk with us
As we travel
Along His path.
His angels
Comfort us
Lending a shoulder
To lean on
A listening ear
To hear our cries
Or
Our praise.
His angels
Walk with us
Thru the storms
The deserts
The mountain tops
The retreats.
Thank-you Lord
For Our Angelic Companions.
Your Emissaries
Your emissaries
Walk the earth.
We do not know
Who they are.
The weary traveller
Seeking aid.
The single mom
And her family
Seeking food.
The homeless
Seeking shelter.
The down and out
Seeking a friend
To talk to.
The drunk
Seeking guidance and support.
Reminding us
That everyone
Friends, strangers and enemies
Is part of
Your Heavenly Family.
And
That we should
Treat them all
With the same respect
That you treat us.
Thank-you Lord.
FRIENDS
Friends
Are people
Who come
To your aid
When all else
Fails.
Friends
God’s Special Angels
Here on earth.
Thank-you Lord.
HOLY SPIRIT OUTFITS
The Holy Spirit
Dresses the souls
For those who
Follow Our Lord.
So look
Before you judge
Those who reach out
To help you.
For Our Lord
Uses many different souls
To reach out to us.
Thank-you Lord
For the clothing
Of the Holy Spirit.
ANGELS 5
His majesty
Can be seen
In snow covered mountains
Rainbows
Flocks of flamingos
Rising from a pale blue lake
Covered with mists.
Yet
He can be seen
Also
In
The helping hand
Of a stranger.
A smile from a friend.
