    About the Author

    1. Introduction

Erectile dysfunction is actually the first indicator of generalized cardiovascular disease. It’s the canary in the coal mine, it’s the thing that lets you know that you have some significant endothelial and vascular disease much earlier than will a heart attack…

    – Terry Mason, M.D.

Commissioner of Health, City of Chicago, IL, USA

It is my sincerest wish that I may help as many men and women as possible with this publication. It is my goal as a humanitarian to assist the masses. The objective of every aspiring author is to produce a book and sell as many copies as possible, perhaps write a best seller. When I embarked on this project it was with the hope that if I could help one person it would be a success. But then I read the statistic that more than 30 million men in the United States alone suffer from Erectile Disfunction. If you look at world population statistics it is apparent that there are approximately six hundred million men living over the age of 55 years old. Statistics also say the 40 percent of these men experience ED at one point in their lives. Forty percent of 600,000,000 is 240,000,000 men potentially living with ED. If you add to that number the amount of men that are between the ages of 40 and 55 experiencing ED, the number is absolutely staggering. I now believe that I can assist many more than just one, and I feel as though I must.

You are holding one of the most important tools that will help facilitate your movement from where you currently are to somewhere that you can be experiencing better health.

The term erectile dysfunction is exactly as it implies, a dis-functioning of the male penis and it’s inability to become erect and maintain an erection. Although it may sound like a cliché or a joke, it is my sincere wish that you may take the ‘dis’ out of your disfunction. I want you to have EF, erectile function, not ED, erectile disfunction.

Unfortunately, many people are turned off the idea of having to change their ‘regular’ lifestyle. They are not happy with having to change their ‘status quo’ or normal situation. Have no fear; enter this book with an open mind.

Some of you may dread hearing the word ‘vegan’ or ‘vegetarian’ and think to yourself, there’s no way will I ever give up my hamburgers or steak or big glass of milk. Sadly, you or someone you know, may have one or more chronic diseases and/or erectile disfunction. Well, it’s time you changed your attitude and got happy with it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it is okay, but if it is broke, this book will help you learn how to fix it. Your erectile dysfunction and fixing ‘IT’ is exactly what I am hoping to do for you.

When you succeed, and I know you will, please write to me and tell me your journey. I want to know how bad it was and now how good it has become. I want to hear from you because I am sure, beyond a doubt, that switching your life to an informed, educated whole foods lifestyle will bring you better health and wellness.

The pioneers mentioned in this book are the doctors, scientists, dieticians and experts that have done and continue to do the work. I merely tell their story. They need to be heard and their works read and absorbed. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE. It is so much easier to make a shift in your life when it’s convenient for you. I wish you the best success, health and happiness.

Of course, it has to be said that everyone embarking on a life changing journey like this one should consult their doctor or doctors first. Inform them that you want to take more control over your own health, and with their help you will succeed. But only upon their advice should you alter any current medications.

Enjoy the book, enjoy meeting Ed, and may your adventure be as fulfilling as it was for our character, Ed.

    2. Meet Ed

I would like to introduce you to Ed. I am quite sure that you would like him. Ed is suave, debonaire, well-groomed, and always super fun to be around. His peers consider him an above average, good looking, all-American man. He loves sports and appreciates art. He has a deep affection for cooking, and he is crazy-in-love with Linda, his wife of 30 years.

Two months before Ed’s 50th birthday, Linda asked him what he wanted for his special day. Ed imagined a hotel room, a bottle of wine, and his honey, Linda, wearing nothing but a new pair of shoes and a smile. He chuckled inside and quickly remembered that they would pay at least $175 for the hotel room. Linda loves organic merlot, so that would add another $30 or $40. Although her smile would be priceless, the shoes would run them up another $150, putting them in the $350 range.

Ed did not want to spend nearly $400 just to sleep in a strange bed with his wife. The image was not the same as it might have been in years past. Ed sadly focused on the current reality: that his body placed a limit on the fun that Linda and he would share on his 50th birthday. Ed has a condition known to millions of men as erectile dysfunction.

    3. Thirty-five, Forty, Forty-five…

Let’s take you back a few years.

On Ed’s 35th birthday, he stood just shy of 6 feet tall, the same height he had been since the 11th grade. He weighed 190 pounds and was in peak fitness. He had been an athletic teenager and an equally healthy young man. At 35 years, he was hale and hearty – healthy and strong. Ed played racquetball every Tuesday morning before work.
