About this ebook

This book took me over a year to write, although I feel the Lord had been training me to write it the best part of my life. My purpose is not to criticize the churches, but to share through my experience what the Lord has shown me. I cover the reasons why the church is not working completely the way it should, this is the reason why our places of worship are slowly becoming empty. The establishment church is failing, but “The Church” is not dying. We are people who tell the new story of God, people who make space for God to work through us, people who listen for God’s call. This is who we say we are. We need good spiritual God centered nourishment. I pray after you read Broken Door, it will lead you into a closer relationship with Jesus. I ask that you will give this book a chance, You'll find that 'Broken Door' is unlike any Christian book you've ever read.

I began writing in my late teenage years. I had no intention of writing books and publishing them. The Lord placed on my heart to begin writing my first book in 2013; it took me over a year to write it. Many people have told me that when they started reading my first book “Broken Door”, it was hard for them to put it aside. Then the Lord gave me the unction to write my second book, “Faith is What?” Not long after I finished ‘Broken Door.’ ‘The Big Lie about Tattoos” is my third book as of this year 2016.I have worked in the ministry since 1985; I started preaching in prisons, in retirement homes and as a guest speaker for many churches. In addition, I started preaching out in the streets, at bars, parks, restaurants; I would bring my guitar to the parks and restaurants and sing songs that the Lord had me write. I was age 54; when the Lord led me to start writing books, I’m now 64; I’ve had some people tell me I’m just a keyboard preacher, but, I believe in that old saying,” The pen is mightier than the sword.” Comments are welcome, rather they are positive or negative. Thank YouMichael Dunhill

    The Hidden Truth about Church

Introduction: The purpose of this book is an attempt to open the eyes of not only members in our churches but pastors also. There are hidden truths laying on the surface in plain sight, (Actually the best place to hide something, is in plain sight); these hidden truths, sad to say has been in the churches ever since I was a child, I’m sure even longer. Deception-Chapter 1

What do you think would happen if you approach someone you know, who is caught up in deception, and you tell them? You’re deceived. What type of reaction do you think you'll get? Do think his reaction would be, Praise God! Actually, you and I both know the outcome; after an extensive long-winded argument, he would walk away. Why? Because, the truth of matter is; it does absolutely no good to tell a deceived person that they are living in deceit. The chances to win the Mega Millions jackpot are around 1, in 259 million. We are more likely to win the jackpot, than we are to change the mind of a deceived person. Actually, they have to see it for themselves. Sadly, leaders in our churches today are missing the mark in their pastor-ship, teaching and evangelism.

Personally, I do not believe that they are deliberately behind the podiums preaching deception, nor that they are aware of it. A person deceived can be totally sincere and passionate about what they're teaching.

Leaders of the church, especially organized churches are teaching, preaching and evangelizing what they believe in their hearts to be the truth. We can get some insight on how deception works, from the story of Adam and Eve; remember when the serpent came to Eve saying that she could eat the fruit, and surely she would not die?

    Genesis Chapter 3

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God indeed said, ‘you shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;  but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ Then the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die. ⁵ For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Did you catch it? The serpent didn't lie completely he told her what I refer to as a half-truth, half-truths are much more dangerous than a complete lie; complete lies are easy for us to see though, with half-truths there’s just enough truth mixed into the lie for it to become believable. This same thing has been happening in our churches for centuries. Half-truths have been passed down through the ages, our leaders hold fast to these teachings; the enemy has gotten into the camp the church. The best way to destroy something good is to join it, and work from within to spread deceit. My theory, (note: my opinion), I believe centuries ago the enemy came into the camp, (The churches). And had corrupted it by adding bits of false information; just enough to destroy that which God had intended to be holy, and useful to the growth of his people. This led to what churches have become today; regarding the separation of churches, due to our beliefs.

For instance, television ministers, the pastors try to lead us to believe that money is the only reason God is alive. If we do not drive a beautiful car to day or live in a luxury home, according to their teachings, we shame God's people. Try to tell these pastors how deceived, they’re, how far do you think we’ll get with them? Reader, you could ask, Well, isn't this obvious? They have to know what they’re doing isn’t right, the truth, no. They believe in their hearts they’re right, there is just enough truth in the message that it has convinced them it's real.

I’ve watched these pastors for a year’s matter of fact, I almost fell into this prosperity teaching myself, and the men that preach this message are persuaded that their message is true. When someone believes something so strongly it's really not that hard to convince others, why? Because of sincerity, when someone is sincere it comes across as honesty.

When I sold vacuum cleaners I had to believe in what I was selling. If I didn't, the customer would know that I didn't. It came across as dishonesty on my part. In turn, I would lose a sale. One of the first lessons I learned was too convinced myself the cleaner I was selling was the best; it worked well. The first month I sold twenty five cleaners, all exempt three, cleared with good credit. So, you could say I made myself a believer, and that helped me to convert others to my way of thinking, same as the prosperity teaching message. You might think that this teaching of seed of faith is something new that has taken place in the past twenty years. But in reality, there was something very similar to what exists in the church today. 500 years ago, an evil that promoted Martin Luther to nail his ninety five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg Germany on October 31st 1517. This evil led to a reform, from which the Protestant church grew up. There were serious abuses within the church.

The large administrative structure of the church demanded a lot of money to fund it. To obtain this money, the church used many devices that hurt its spiritual nature. During this same period of great need in the church, some members of the clergy lived as secular princes, building lavish palaces and engaging in corrupt financial practices. In order to do just that Pope Leo the 10th, sent out indulgence peddlers. They had been granted by the papal power, to grant remission of sins according to the amount of money given. While Luther had other concerns about papal abuse it was the selling of indulgences that prompted him to hold a public debate on the matter. In those days on holidays, such as All Saints Day, it was customary to hold public debates.

The subjects of the debates were announced by nailing them to the church door. So on October 31st, 1517 Luther nailed his ninety five Theses to the church door little knowing that the can of worms he opened would split the church down the middle and usher in the reformation and with it Protestantism. The indulgences of old promised that God would pardon people’s sins in exchange for a gift to the church. The indulgences have sold today’s promise a return by God of up to one hundred fold with every gift. At the heart of the matter of the selling of indulgences is the question as to whether God’s favor can be bought or sold.
