About this ebook

Denver Noles is a Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor winner who inherits half an island in the Florida Keys after the death of his uncle Harry. Deciding to leave the Navy and change his lifestyle he converts his uncle's house into a bar and recruits a couple of other SEALS to run the bar, marina and boat yard and for five years they do just that, until an employee asks for his help. Her only daughter was kidnapped by Mexico's largest cartel.
Denver and his buddies head to Mexico to find the girl but get caught up in a conspiracy that puts them in a struggle for their lives between Mexico's two largest cartels. Their only way out is to go on the offensive to save the girl and her family and themselves.
Their hunt takes them to the coast near Cancun and eventually to a daring rescue in the Caribbean.

This seems to be the year of the Navy SEAL with real life heroics in the news, a major motion picture starring real SEALs and numerous books from a romance anthology to several memoirs by former SEALs. ISLA LACRA fits right in. Denver and his buddies, Davy and Paul find themselves in the middle of a situation worthy of their black ops days when one of Denver’s employees, Maria, requests their help. Her son is missing and her daughter is being held captive by one of Mexico’s most nefarious drug cartels. The trio, with help from some well placed friends, uses their vast experience to locate the son and rescue the daughter and the rest of Maria’s family…oh, and while they’re at it, they bring down the entire cartel. Missing cocaine, kidnap, torture, drug runners and SEALs-what else does one need to create a tense, action-packed thriller? Boyd has written the book with Denver narrating in a very “sitting-with-a-buddy-having-a-beer” tone. Denver comes across as humble and likable in a folksy kind of way. There is a hint at a budding romance between Denver and Maria’s daughter, Mariana, that I would have liked to learn more about. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.Heat Rating: NoneRating: 4Reviewed By: Jeanne Stone-Hunter,My Book Addiction and More
