    Chapter 1

Every time Abby saw him go 8 seconds her heart shot into her throat. His strength was amazing and it caused her to catch her breath. The muscles in his arms were strained and his muscular thighs held to the bulls back as sweat ran down his face in streaks, soaking his shirt completely.

Her favorite seat was always in the corral behind the main gate. He wanted her there when he came out after the ride. She’d run up to him and wrap her arms around him, grateful he was safe once again. But he was her cowboy and nothing could take that away from her.

His smile would broaden as she made her way over to him. All the cowboys knew she’d be first to congratulate him. They’d been an item for a couple of years and everyone expected them to make an announcement soon. Several of the cowboys had even hinted about Cole retiring soon.

Then one night Cole overheard some of the other riders talking about him settling down and retiring from the rodeo and he’d been furious. The next night when she arrived at the show he was nowhere to be found. One of the guys said they’d seen him out near his trailer.

When she’d walked around the back of the trailer she found him wrapped around another woman. They were in a heated embrace and his hand was up her shirt caressing her breast. Abby stood there for a few moments trying to get a hold on her anger. When she cleared her throat they looked up and never let go of their embrace.

Abby ran all the way to her truck and spun out of the gravel lot. When she reached her house her world fell out from under her. She sank to the floor in tears. How could he do this to her? He’d held her last night and told her he loved her. When he left her that morning he’d told her that his world was nothing without her.

It had all been lies, nothing but lies. How long had he been seeing other women? How long had he been sharing her bed and then going to other women when he was on the road? She was such a fool to trust him. Why hadn’t she listened to everybody when they told her not to trust a cowboy on the rodeo circuit?

When her emotions were somewhat in control, she stood up and walked to the kitchen. She grabbed a bottle of whiskey and walked back into the den. She’d drink until she was numb. As she opened the bottle and took the first sip her heart cooled. She was done with cowboys. He’d taken her heart and thrown it away.

The whiskey soon warmed her limbs and made her stop caring. She looked up at the clock and knew the rodeo was over. He was probably in her bed by now, so she drank to that too.

When the door flew open she didn’t even look up. The last thing she wanted was to see his cheating face. All she saw was his blue jean covered legs and cowboy boots. If she looked at his handsome face she’d be lost.

Abby I’m sorry you saw that. It was nothing baby. She’s just a fan that follows the circuit. Hell baby she kissed me and I just lost my head. He grabbed the bottle of whiskey and took a long swig. What the hell are you doing with this? You don’t drink whiskey.

She finally looked up at him. He was all masculine and gorgeous, causing her body to react to his scent as it drifted across her nose. She closed her eyes and tried to erase the image, but the whiskey had made her too relaxed.

He pulled her up and into his arms. Let’s go make up baby. I won tonight and we need to celebrate. He carried her down the hall and laid her on the bed.

Her brain was so foggy and he looked so damn good. How could she say no to her cowboy? He unbuttoned her shirt and pulled her jeans down her legs tossing them on the floor. She heard his large buckle hit the floor as he undressed.

He joined her on the bed and something deep inside told her that she needed to make him leave but one last night with him was her due. She reached up and pulled him to her. A groan escaped from his throat as she kissed him heatedly. He was the best lover she’d ever had, hell he was the only lover
