When Sue invites him to lunch, he gets a taste of teen romance. He is immediately pushed out of his comfort zone and into a world of girl talk and jealousy.
He becomes very friendly with Sue and her friends but by Saturday he finds himself and Sue dodging bullets and being chased by criminals on motorbikes.

I became a teacher and found a job teaching English and Film and Television at Trinity Bay State High School in Cairns, Australia. As a teacher I wrote many One Act Plays that students enjoyed performing in. I became the Rugby coach at the school and began writing novels that my students could read, relate to and understand. I decided to publish the novels under the name of Teen Friendly Books. At present I have 24 written and 15 published. My plan is to write many more books for teens to read and enjoy.

Chapter One
Dodging the Baddies
Jayden grabbed Sue’s arm as twenty-five bullets flew past their ears and their shoulders and their arms and their heads. He dragged her behind a huge rock that protected them from the flying bits of metal.
We have to get out of here and quickly,
he said to her as he took her hand and led her down from the top of the hill. They sprinted to an area where there were huge rocks everywhere.
They scrambled up and over rock after rock after rock for a few minutes until Jayden found a gap between two huge boulders that was big enough for them to hide. He jumped into the gap and helped Sue in after him.
Jayden noticed that Sue’s hands were shaking. Are you alright,
he asked.
Before she had a chance to answer, six motorbikes screamed over the hill that they just ran down. Jayden peeked out from under the rocks and saw the bikes roaring around the area looking for them.
The bikes were all painted black and all the riders wore black pants, black jackets and black helmets. Three zoomed off to the left and three zoomed off to the right.
Who are those people?
Sue asked uneasily, peering out through a gap in the rocks.
I don’t know who they are but they are certainly not the friendliest people on Earth,
Jayden told her.
Just a question,
Sue asked, Were they shooting real bullets at us?
Yes, they were real,
Jayden assured her.
So that was real hot metal flying around my head?
Sue asked.
It was real,
Jayden replied. He looked at her and did not know if she would start to freak out and scream and shout and carry on about being shot at.
I have never been shot at before,
Sue stated fairly calmly.
To tell the truth, neither have I,
Jayden admitted.
So when you come out to visit your grandmother in the country people don’t normally shoot at bullets at you for fun,
Sue asked in a joking manner.
I don’t think being a target for people with guns would be a lot of fun, Jayden told her,
and I have no idea why they are riding around dressed in black and trying to hunt us down like dogs,"
Sue looked at Jayden and stated, So Wayde was right.
What does he have to do with anything?
Jayden shouted.
One name that Jayden did not want to hear was Wayde. He totally bothered him. The last thing that he wanted to hear in the middle of a crisis and in the middle of the bush was the name Wayde.
The fact that Sue thought that he was right about something annoyed him more. Right about what?
Jayden asked in a very aggravated manner.
Wayde said that they would have guns,
she told him.
That is obviously what they are shooting at us with,
Jayden replied, still very annoyed that the name Wayde was in his face.
So what are we going to do?
Sue asked.
Our plan is to stay hidden, especially from people with guns,
Jayden told her.
I think hiding from people with guns is a good plan,
Sue agreed.
We’re safe. I know lots of places like this where we can hide and they won’t find us,
Jayden assured her.
What if they get off their bikes,
Sue asked.
If they get off their bikes, they still won’t find us, there are too many rocks around here. They can’t look underneath and between all of them,
Jayden told her.
They sat for about ten minutes as the noise of motorbikes polluted the air. Jayden watched as three bikies searched for the two of them.
The bikies found nothing and eventually they gave up their search and headed back over the hill.
Its gone quiet. Are we safe yet?
Sue asked.
They went to another area to search for us. We have to move quickly before they come back,
Jayden stated as he grabbed Sue’s hand again.
They climbed up and out of their hiding place and all Sue could see were rocks, rocks and more rocks. She saw a sea of rocks that seemed to go on forever.
Follow me,
Jayden said, and try to stay low.
Jayden jumped up onto a rock or two and then jumped down in between rocks. Then he jumped up again and then down again between rocks.
He was constantly looking behind him for the return of the bikes. After about fifteen minutes of jumping up and down on rocks, he found a path between the rocks that hid them completely from sight.
They ran along the track and it led them to a dry creek bed. They ran through the waterless creek, hand in hand until Jayden found a sandy path that lead them back to their horses.
How did you do that?
Sue asked.
Do what?
Jayden replied.
How did you get us back to the horses so quickly?
Sue asked.
I know this land fairly well,
Jayden replied.
So, what’s next?
Sue asked.
To avoid them we’ll have to go through a rugged patch of bush that will make it hard for them to see us and to follow us. We’ll be safer going that way,
Jayden explained. Are you okay with that?
Safe is the most important word that I heard. Let’s be safe,
Sue told him.
Jayden looked into her eyes and she looked back at him and smiled. That was the same look that he remembered them exchanging only a few days earlier.
Chapter Two
The Beginning
Jayden sat in Math class on Monday morning working hard. He answered most of the problems on page sixty-eight and was trying to figure out the answer to question 12 C. He had been working on that problem for over five minutes and
