Chapter 1

It’s been five months since Mick had left. Tom and Robin were as happy as any couple could be. Jenny and Patrick had welcomed a beautiful baby girl. She looks just like Jenny. Pat was a wonderful father.

Chris and I have worked out a routine. I was really getting used to having him as my partner. Rick still drops by. He gave me my space. I was still not ready to commit to anyone.

Chris and I were assigned to investigate a Middle Eastern student that attended college at R.I.T in Rochester. Rick was beside himself. He did not want in any way, shape, or form, for Chris and me to take this on. Tom had told both of us that we could pass this assignment off, it was up to us. We could have all the help we needed. We would be working hand and hand with the FBI.

Chris was up in the air about working for the FBI. He had just left their service less than a year ago. He was not in a hurry to have them involved in a case he would be working. I am always up for some action. I thought the case might be very interesting.

Chris and I have become very good friends since we have been partners. If Chris decided he didn’t want to take this case on. I would understand and respect his decision.

Tom had not been out of his office all morning. I asked Robin what was going on. Robin shrugged her shoulders, I don’t know. He has been on the phone all morning. I guess we just have to wait until he’s ready to tell us. Robin was happy to be married to Tom You could tell her, your dog was just shot. He’s in a ditch on the other side of the road, and she would still have a smile on her face. It’s unnatural to be so happy.’

Tom finally came out of the office. He gave Robin a smile. Bailey Chris, could you please come in. I need to run something by you. Chris and I immediately got up. We walked in and took a chair in front of Tom’s desk. He looked at us while taking a sip of his coffee. I’ve been on the phone all morning with R.I.T and the mother of one of their students. Mrs. Stapleton has a daughter Grace, which attended R.I.T. Her daughter is home now. She is too emotionally distraught to go back to classes. She told her mother that she was raped at a college party. She had heard that some of the boys at the party had this drug, Molly on them. She doesn’t know who had it. She has no memory other than she found herself in a strange bed at a fraternity house and she could barely walk when she was able to pull herself together to leave. She is sure she was drugged. The mother talked with the school. They told her that they would look into it, discretely. They didn’t want any of this leaking out for the media to hear. I called the school. They said that they didn’t know what I was talking about. There was no such charges or accusations made. It sounded like they were trying to cover something up. Mrs. Stapleton wants to hire us. She wants to get to the bottom of this and find out who is responsible for giving her daughter this drug. I spoke up, Is she sure her daughter was raped? Maybe she is having a thing with a boy and didn’t want to say anything to her mother? Is that possible? Tom took a breath, It is possible. There have been a lot of colleges that are having trouble with a drug they call Molly. Chris is this familiar to you? Chris stared at Tom. Yes it’s a purer form of ecstasy, or the date rape drug. The person who takes this looses all there inhibitions. They are not afraid to do anything. I gave him a how do you know all this look. I worked with a lot of kids, when I was staying at the safe house. You get to know a lot. Tom broke in We need to find out what’s going on. If she is lying we need to know that too. You know that the FBI is running some kind of scam on their campus. The wanted us to help. I figure you could do this case and possibly help them at the same time. They need student with ears. They want to know everything that is being said that sounds out of the ordinary. We could help each other, with our case being our priority. Do you think you’re up for being students again?
