This particular book is number four in a series so if you haven't been reading from the beginning, the author does no reminding of the story so far. The story resumes apparently right where the previous book left off. Tucker and Maya have been helping to build a Titanic exhibit at a museum and certain items from the collection have allowed them to time travel to the actual Titanic. In terms of historical fiction, the novel gives plenty of details about the sinking of the Titanic and there is a section at the end that is a person profile and an artifact profile. Language and text is appropriate for Middle School aged children. The illustrations are blue toned and done in a pen and ink type of style. Children interested in disasters, life at sea, and/or history will enjoy the series, but they should be read in order. Recommended.

I’m telling you, it’s not here, Maya Cho told her father as she watched him hunt beneath her computer desk for her cell phone.

Maya’s father looked up at her from his position below her desk. He pushed aside clothes and crumpled pieces of paper.

I wish you’d keep your room at least a little cleaner, Maya, he grumbled. How you find anything in here is beyond me.

I have a system, Maya said, shrugging. She sat on the edge of her bed and looked at her fingernails. It works for me.

Well, then, use your system to find your cell phone, her dad suggested. He stood up, smacking his head on the underside of her desk in the process. Ow!

Maya cringed. Did that hurt? she said.

Yes! he snapped. You know, if you would help, we’d find your cell phone faster, and maybe I wouldn’t have banged my head.

"I would help, Maya said, but I know it’s not here. We’re just wasting our time."

Oh, really? her dad said. And how can you be so sure with all of this mess?

I, um, already looked, Maya said. Truthfully, though, she hadn’t looked. She didn’t need to. She knew exactly where her phone was—in the bottom of a lifeboat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, way back in 1912, where she’d dropped it.

Her father ran his hand over his face in frustration. If you’re so sure it’s not here, do you have any idea where it could be? he asked. I don’t have time to keep searching. I’m going to be late for work.

It’s probably at the museum, Maya said. She stood up and nodded firmly. Yeah, it must be. I’m almost positive that’s the last place I used it.

Her father looked at his watch and sighed. Fine, he said. I’ll drive you over there. But remember, you are grounded today. You and Tucker are both in serious trouble after what happened at the museum yesterday. If Tucker is there, you won’t be hanging out with him.

I know, I know, Maya said, rolling her eyes. No fun for Maya today. Got it, Dad.

We’ll go in, get your phone, and leave,
