About this ebook

After five minutes of 'flying,' it finally stopped. I sighed with relief. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, you?" Taleah asked, gasping for breath.
"Yep. I am just glad it's finally over."
The door opened but before I could step out, I noticed the view was different from the park. "Claudia," I asked, "Where are we? This doesn't look like our park."
"Well," Claudia stated, :I would like to be the first to welcome you to the great state of Pennsylvania on September 6, 1789."
Twelve-year-olds Addie and Taleah travel back in time and soon discover they are trapped in the 18th century. Will they figure out how to persuade the time machine to return them home before anyone discovers they are missing?

    Chapter 1

    The First Day of Summer

At last, the first day of summer has come! Now I can stay up as late as I want, eat junk, catch up on the reruns of Modern Middle, and sleep in. But then I remembered; I share a room with the two loudest, most annoying nine year olds in the world, Maiya and Maura.

I woke up on Friday morning, my first morning of summer, to hear Maiya singing in her karaoke machine that she got for her birthday last April. And that wasn’t all. Maura was jumping on my bed, yes the one I was sleeping in, my two year old brother, Reuben, was trying to sing with Maiya, but failing, my baby sister, Cara, was crying in her room down the hall, and my mother was yelling at everyone to just shut-up. I, like my mother, am a type of person who needs to sleep in until ten o’clock every day, and it’s only eight-thirty.

Besides, I need my sleep. Tomorrow is the Grand Re-opening of my mother’s semi-famous clothing and fashion store So Chic. She wants me to help all of the customers while she runs the cash register. You would think that Maiya and Maura would help too, but they say that fashion makes them sick. Oh well, at least we don’t have to make sure that they stay put and behave themselves. Anyway, the reason that it’s re-opening is because all of the clothes my mom sells are clothes that she makes.  Since she had Cara in January, she hasn’t been able to go down to the store to create clothes that often. But, it goes quicker now that I help her make some clothes. However, I can’t help out all the time at the store. Being the oldest of five and with both parents working, I usually get stuck being the baby-sitter.

I have to say, I love all of my siblings, but Maiya and Maura aren’t my cup of tea. But, I’m getting off topic. Back to Friday, now.

I figured that, with all of this noise, I might as well give up trying to sleep. I got up, ate breakfast, put on my favorite outfit, and then went downstairs to my mom’s store. (Did I mention that we live in an apartment above So Chic?)  I sewed for a couple of hours, until I heard a noise behind me.

    Hey, Addie,
