Ralph Goings
Ralph Goings is an American painter who was born in California in 1928, during the height of the Great Depression.
Goings is recognized as one of the founders of the Photorealism movement, which began in the late 1960s.
Goings is best known for his highly detailed, realistic paintings of everyday items such as tabletops, supermarkets, hamburger stands, pickup trucks, and later, New York diners.
Many of Goings’s most famous paintings hang in galleries, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, and the Guggenheim in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Illinois.

A Work of Art
Clementine Wim was alone.
Though she loved her friends, she was also the sort of person who enjoyed being alone every so often, mainly because that was the best time for art. And there was nothing Clementine enjoyed more than working on her art.
This particular Saturday morning, Clementine’s hands were caked in reddish clay, and her hair — which she’d meant to tie back in a bun — kept falling over her eyes. There was probably clay in her hair, too, but she had no time to worry about that. Instead, she kept blowing her hair off her face as her hands went to work on the spinning wet clay in front of her. Her right foot kept hopping to keep the clay spinning on
