About this ebook

Book 4 in the Tales of Horror series. This time we have an anthology with 2 additional short stories added to follow Zombie Laboratory.

Exerpt:

He wasn't allowed to wear any clothing underneath the high level of hazmat suit he wore. He shivered in the facility's cool air a moment and looked blankly at the wall across from him while he got his bearings. It always took him a moment to get ready to leave the lab, especially with the way they set up the exit hall to the facility. He dressed in his worn, familiar, t-shirt, sweats and boxers, and then turned and left the sterile lab entry. The hall to the rest of the facility was lined with several video feeds of lab space, as well as scenes piped in from outside.

Supposedly, it was there to motivate the people walking through the hall. The scenes of rotting corpses, undead creatures shuffling blindly past cameras and as they wandered aimlessly, or finally finding something warm blooded to devour messily, no longer really affected him even with the details in glorious high definition. It was nothing but a blur of images he saw day after day in the lab. He didn't need any more motivation to do the work, after all…generally saving mankind was motivation enough. It didn't mean that it was any less tiring though, nor did it make him any more interested in the images on the walls.

Zombie Laboratory and Other Tales of Horror - Michelle Harlow

    Zombie Laboratory

    Decontamination beginning doctor.

The figure in the white hazmat suit seemed to shrug laconically and then nodded in recognition of the automated directive; as though there was someone on the other side of the speaker that could hear him.

Go ahead, spray me down. The muffled voice replied.

Voice print recognition satisfied, automated systems clicked into place starting a procedure designed to kill any foreign pathogens attached to the figure’s nearly pristine hazmat suit. First, a soft breeze filled the room, accompanied by a slight puffing of the suit as negative pressure drew any particles into vents that evacuated to the surface. Secondly, a spray of misty blue biological toxin coated the entire surface of the room. Hazardous to anything with a cell structure, if the figure was not wearing a full suit this mist would kill him along with anything else in the room. Lastly, massive ultraviolet lights blazed on in an attempt to sterilize anything with any potential immunity to the toxin. After all three procedures ended an inner door hissed open, providing access to the rest of the facility.

Please remember to deposit your hazmat suit in the provided receptacle for recycling doctor, and have a good rest of your afternoon.

The platitude didn’t even deserve a response as the figure stepped through into the changing room. A middle height, slightly overweight, grey haired man appeared as each piece of the hazmat suit disappeared into the recycling bin. The plastic suits were melted down and extruded again into a suit he would use tomorrow, or the day after, or the week after. He hardly even remembered how often the cycling system used material again.

He wasn’t allowed to wear any clothing underneath the high level of hazmat suit he wore. He shivered in the facility’s cool air a moment and looked blankly at the wall across from him while he got his bearings. It always took him a moment to get ready to leave the lab, especially with the way they set up the exit hall to the facility. He dressed in his worn, familiar, t-shirt, sweats
