About this ebook

There are few hobbies that can compare with the delights of making your own wine. Using only natural ingredients; flowers, berries fruits, leaves and vegetables.

I am now well over 80 years old, a countryman through and through, I have been making wine since I was a young lad, following the practices and using the recipes that my parents and grandparents used - it's time I passed this knowledge on.

There is so much nonsense being written about home made wine these days, it's quite ridiculous In reality it is so very simple, anyone, given a little guidance can produce, full flavoured, delicious, clear natural wine that will delight you - and impress your friends.

It is so inexpensive too, costing only pennies for each bottle produced and you will find it tastes so much better than bought wines!

In my book I have fully explained: what to do,when you do it, how you do it and why you do it Each recipe is clear and concise, so very easy to understand and follow that a ten year old could make these wines (keep this book away from ten year olds!) you can't possibly go wrong.

If you are one of those people who have toyed with the idea of making wine, but have not got around to doing anything about it - this little book is for you!

I know you will be thrilled with your wines and you will probably enjoy gathering the ingredients almost as much - I know I do.

So go ahead, do yourself a favour, open a new hobby that will provide you with a great collection of interesting wine flavours - and give you a fantastic sense of satisfaction and pride. I guarantee you will always remember that first taste of your very own wine.

The Countryman

'The Countryman' is Denis Owens. Now over 80 years of age. Denis has lived all his life in the beautiful county of Rutland in the heart of rural England. Brought up in a typical country family it was natural that he helped out in all the aspects of country life, gardening, cooking and wine making., generally living in the rhythm with nature. As a child he would spend all his free time roaming the fields, meadows and woodlands. Enjoying and appreciating the natural world, observing and identifying birds, catching rabbits, fishing and swimming in local rivers and gathering the the ingredients for making wine, generally helping his family to live off the land during the very difficult war years when rationing of foodstuffs was at its hight. Denis has been encouraged to write by his family and friends. His enthusiasm for wine making and his sense of humour shines through the pages of his book. It not only contains wonderful wine recipes which are so easy to follow, but he has also included little stories that have occurred to him as he wrote, some of these are so very funny, they alone are worth the price of the book! The family are pressing him to write more of his life and the lifestyle of a country family during the war years. His family shared so much of their time with the young air crew boys of 144 Squadron at RAF North Luffenham, bitter sweet times, helping them to enjoy as much of their young lives before it was snatched away from them. It is important that these snippets of life should be recorded, we, his family hope he will sit down soon and put pen to paper again, before it is too late.
