This story is an introduction to a series of Young Zachary books. Zachary, a young teenager with a somewhat overactive imagination, is in those in-between years; too young to drive and too old to play with toys. He likes video games but doesn’t want them to control his world like some of his friends. To fight the boredom he decides to become a Private Investigator. Will people think he’s serious, as he walks around with his Ulster Overcoat and Deerstalker Hat; or will they laugh at him?

This short story explains how Young Zachary started on the path to becoming a Private Investigator.

Now, let me introduce myself

My name is Zachary and I’m a typical teenager. Others may not think I’m typical, but I consider myself typical. I love a good mystery and have developed a knack for solving them.

The reason I say it’s a knack and not a gift is because my ability to deduce things didn’t one day fall out of the sky and smack me in the face. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time developing this skill and I have every intention of using it to my advantage.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Mystery Marathon to watch. This Sunday, they’re doing Murder Mysteries Stories from the years 1946 to 1966.

I’m into three hours of the TV’s Twenty-Four-Hour Mystery Marathon and guessed who done it within the first ten minutes of each story. Although, I must say, the Holmes Story presented a challenge; I didn’t’ guess that one until the very end.
