A Day with You - Kelly Darrow

    "Mere Game Pieces"

I detest most, especially those that detest me.

Perhaps they have not a clue,

what I go through, on any given day, in my existence.

If they did, it would frighten them.

The shock would melt away their pathetic mask of face,

like wax that of a candle.

Is it arrogance, which creates my thought, my attitude, and my masterpiece?

Or the annoyances of those that surround my experience.

Melancholy is the possession of what I would say, a realist.

One who views life, as it truly presents itself.

Most game pieces have pathetic little lives

lost in mazes of repetitive emotions – motions.

    Meaningless,

never, will they figure it out.

Is academia the destruction of one’s common sense?

Or is it a true discipline of everything more than common.

Most game pieces wondering mindlessly across my path,

    I find nearly intolerable.

Nearly, being the smallest piece of tolerable.

According to the basic instructions before leaving earth,

well, never mind, according any thought to fiction.

    "I’m Sad"

    Searching around for me

    In my head for me

My eyes are open but I cannot see

My mind is open but I’m not free

Where can I go to find my soul?

How can I find a way to fill this hole?

Is there a moment in time?

That I can feel is really mine

I find it hard to show

The pain I need to, to grow

Where can I go to find my soul?

How can I find a way to fill this hole?

In the pain lies a day

Where the hurt will vanish away

I can’t say how or when

    But I feel it within

Where can I go to find my soul?

How can I find a way to fill this hole?

    "Shirley"

My lovely friend, whom I adore with all my beating heart.

Lovely to the touch and character of a true woman.

I have loved you from our relationships start.

Your smile is as beautiful as a summer morning.

My whispery soul melts with yours

    into a magical existence

    somewhere over the stars

    everlasting within the vast distance.

I feel your life, your breath.

I notice your eyes and your step

    so alive
