I was born in Essex, England, in 1951.My early days of work as an engineer led me to Norway where I met my future wife Kari. She moved to England where we married and raised our two daughters. We moved back to Norway in 1985.My wife and I now live far in the north, well within the Arctic Circle, in the land of the midnight sun. Life here is slow and comfortable, blessed by unspoilt nature and its magnificent moods.Being creative in the written form gives me vast pleasure. I hope, dear reader, you will take a break from your world and lose yourself in one of mine.

Acloud of smoke, rising from a frying pan filled with beefsteak, set the smoke alarm on the ceiling screaming. Alf bounced up from his side of the kitchen table, dragged the pan aside, and opened the kitchen door to air out. He held himself erect, gazed across the estate towards the lake, and flexed his Herculean shoulder muscles. What the…?
he said.
His colossal friend and co-security guard, Bert, reached up and swatted the plastic smoke alarm with the palm of his fat hand. It shattered in a thousand bits and he dusted the remnants from his hand. What's up mate?
Gypsies? I don't believe it. How did they get on the estate?
Yeah, how did they get on the estate?
Alf gave an exaggerated sigh. Find something else for breakfast. Then we better go down to the mansion and see how the young masters want us to deal with them.
Bert fetched two cereal bowls from a cupboard. He filled Alf's with raw oats, broke three fresh eggs across the top, and poured full-cream milk over the top. He filled his own bowl with choco-crunch balls and used cream instead of milk. What shall I do with the meat?
he asked.
Like what you always do with your chunks of burnt leather. Give it to the dogs.
