Chapter 1

At first glance, it looked like any other industry convention in the early twenty-second century. To be honest, such conventions hadn’t changed much in over a hundred years. Rows and rows of booths manned by different companies and vendors and throngs of convention attendees visiting them all, carrying bags full of free samples and literature. Even in this age of holographic documents, people still wanted hard copies of brochures and trade publications. However, on the second glance, it was obvious that this was not a typical convention. The companies and vendors were all in the adult entertainment industry. There were movie studios offering photo opportunities and autographs of their contract actresses. Sex toy companies showing off their latest wares and a handful of upstarts trying to break into the industry, whether they were adult film actors, novelty manufacturers or online resellers.

Among the throngs of people making their way up and down the aisles, getting pictures with their favorite performers and collecting as much free stuff as they could carry, was a couple in their early thirties walking hand in hand. Craig and Veronica had been married for five years. They both worked and were very career driven but they had a healthy sexual appetite so when they were together, they were, more often than not, making intense love with each other. They enjoyed trying new things, positions, techniques and toys. As they approached one end of the convention center, they stumbled upon a very elaborate looking booth that didn’t appear to be manned. There was some literature available on a table and behind it a door with a sign that said, Enter. Above it, a holographic sign that simply read HoloGen.

Holographic technology had come a long way in the last hundred years. Most homes had a holographic projector which had replaced televisions and other home entertainment systems. There was a great deal of holographic programming which was spearheaded, as was the case with most new entertainment technology, by the adult industry. Eventually it made its way to the main stream.

Since they were at an adult industry convention, Craig and Veronica assumed that this was just another holographic projection system like the one they had at home, only perhaps with adult content. They would have moved onto another booth but there was just something very enticing about a single door with the word Enter posted on it. So, they entered.
