Chapter One - Photo Gems: A behind the Lens Tale

Derrick is doing something he finds himself doing most Saturday nights. He is preparing for a rendezvous with a young lady he met the day before at one of his photo shoots. Derrick is a freelance photographer. This past week he was doing a job for a mascara company for an ad in Fair Magazine. While setting up for the shoot, checking his lighting with a few test shots, in walked three beautiful ladies of different nationalities that were sent over from a talent agency that he frequently uses.

He smiled at them and said, Wow! This is nice. I like variety.

In his mind, he was already figuring out which one of the three ladies he was going to proposition for a night of insatiable sex. Which one was desperate enough to do anything for more exposure during the shoot? For the six years he’d been doing photography, he learned that there were a lot of ambitious women out there willing to do anything to further their career. He figured, if they were willing, why should he deny himself the opportunity of sleeping with some of the most gorgeous women alive in exchange for a little extra film, and a good word to the executives that hired him in the first place?

Derrick turned on his charm and said, Thanks for coming ladies. I appreciate you showing up for work on time. Now that you are here, I’d like to explain to you the way I like to do things. I work at a frantic pace. I like to keep a flow going throughout my shoots. It keeps a rhythm and creates a zone in which my creative vibe can kick in and I can catch you in poses I like to call Photo Gems. These are shots that can catapult you from an average model in a picture to a super model with a career. It’s my job to push you to get the best work out of this shoot. It’s your job to give me exactly what I’m looking for today. Ultimately it’s my decision which photos are submitted for the magazine, but above all else what I ask most… Derrick paused for effect, Is that you just have fun.

It’s was the same speech Derrick gave at the beginning of each shoot. The point was to let the models know that he was in charge. After they find out he’s responsible for the picking out the photos, it’s usually a serious competition for his attention. This tends to get the best out of the girls both during and after the shoot.

In a more uplifting tone he said, Now that we’ve gotten the formalities out of the way I’m Derrick James. He said extending his hand to the closest model to him.

        Hi! I’m Jessica Palmer. Jessica was white with long curly brown hair, brown eyes, and a southern dialect. Derrick sized Jessica up as being from Georgia or Arkansas. He preferred Georgia because he would love to see her peach.

        Hi I’m Linn Mei. Lin was of Asian descent, long slender build, with jet black hair. She can definitely get it. Derrick’s thought.

Then Derrick turned to the third model and said, And you are?

        I’m Carmen Santiago. Carmen was Hispanic, with fiery red hair, built head to toe like the typical Latin females he used to see around Chicago. They had a tiny waste, thick hips, and luscious lips.

        I bet she can suck a chicken bone through a water hose. He thought to himself as he made eye contact with her. She smiled seductively and winked at him while she gently rubbed his hand before releasing it.

        We might have a winner. He thought to himself turning his back to the ladies.

        Alright, ladies let’s get to work. Derrick announced and busied himself completing the work he came there to do.

The shoot was very intense, fast paced, and fun. Half way through the shoot a young chick in a business suit with her hair pinned up in a ponytail came into the studio. Derrick never noticed because he was focused on the models.  More importantly, he was in the process of deciding which of the three was going to get his special attention. So far Carmen was his immediate choice. Carmen was not only beautiful and photogenic she just naturally knew how to command the spotlight. Jessica noticed that Carmen was getting the most attention and started turning on her little southern charms. Lin was fly, but she was a distant third. She’s not into this shoot at all." Derrick said to himself a little disappointed.  He could tell that she wasn’t experienced at this at all.

Carmen, on the other hand, was acting like a seasoned vet. She was really into it. Every opportunity she had was spent bending over showing him the cute little top she had on with her breasts peeking from inside. Her chest looked like she had a capital B lying on its back. She would also turn around giving him an over the shoulder shot inviting him to get a look at her nice round ass. Jessica was definitely keeping pace. She was constantly batting her seductive brown eyes or making those, I can’t believe he said that, looks with her mouth making a wide O shape. Her tonsils so visible the back of her throat looked like the Grand Canyon. Then just before she closed her mouth, she rolls her tongue as if to say, I swallow not spit.

Derrick is milking it for everything its worth. Come on ladies this is a mascara shoot for Le` Femme so give me sexy.

The ladies were competing for the attention of the lens. Linn seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she did her best to try to keep pace with Carmen and Jessica. It was obvious that it wasn’t enough though.

Come on Linn get in there show me what you got. You’re looking scared. Open up! I need to see you express yourself. You’re letting the other girls outshine you. You need to get into it. I know you got more than you’re giving me. Derrick said trying to motivate Linn to get it together.
