Those are the words that send shivers down my spine. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

It was about 10 days before my gallery opening. I was anxious, so I was doing what I always do when I’m anxious: I was painting.

My husband, Ian, called me on his lunch break. I set down my palette and rushed to answer the phone, once again leaving a streak of paint across the phone screen.
