After hiring a private investigator, Mary learns that her husband has been cheating on her for a long time. She decides to make him a “dear John” video that depicts her with three guys at the same time. Only, she decides there a better things to get what she wants from her soon-to-be ex-husband. Ultimately, her decision brings her mid-life crisis to an end.

This was the most recent email my husband wrote to Nell:

"Mary has never been able to meet my needs. So doesn’t understand me the way you do. I also doubt she has a mind open enough to explore sexuality the way we do. I often wonder why I stay in this relationship. I think it’s the kids. I need to be a good father. Anyhow, how about Thursday? Bring the strap-on and the ball gag! I’ll find my wife the usual lie about having to work late."

I bit my lip and tried to quell my fury. Me? Sexually timid? I’ve been willingly gangbanged by gym workers and have had sex in bar bathrooms lately. Maybe if he had come to me, he would have found a more open mind than what he suspected. But then again, I really hadn’t ever enjoyed boring stuff like missionary with him. So, I doubt the kinkier stuff wouldn’t have been any better. Still, my fury had me thinking irrationally. I thought I would show him.

First, I went out and booked a motel room and paid for a full night in advance. It was in the seedier side of town, and it had a reputation for being patronized by cheating spouses. I was actually surprised to not see this motel’s name on Mike’s report about Nell and my husband. Then, I went to an electronics store and bought a cheap digital video recorder. Lastly, I went to the old gym I used to work out in. The three guys who fucked me a few months back were all on shift. They trembled at the sight of me, partly because I threatened to file a sexual harassment complaint against them. (That’s how I blackmailed them into group sex). I gave them a cheery smile. “Hello boys.” I laid one of the motel’s business cards on the table. I had written the room number on the back. “If you guys would like to relive some fond, old memories, go to this room at eight tonight.”

The brown haired guy looked at me nervously and tried to smile. “Um, we get off at nine.”

I looked at him a realized I couldn’t remember his name. That’s when I realized I really didn’t care. It was better that names not be involved. “Then meet me at nine.”

“Um, sure.”

I turned and left before they could say anything else. I figured I’d rationalize getting out of the house by telling Andre I was going to get an intense physical workout. In a sense, that would be true.
