Special Thanks to all those who listened to me go on and on about my book and still encouraged me. If not for all the encouragement this would not have been possible. A special thanks to all those who reviewed my first book and gave me some insight. Also to all those who added my first book to their libraries. I do hope you enjoy my stories and hope that you share it with your friends.

    Chapter - Qualin

Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. he exclaimed shaking her. You need to wake up. If you remain asleep you may die. Wake up.

Destiny did just that she woke up. She screamed. She was staring at a strange man. He had lily pad green eyes. He had a defined chin and looked as if he could lift a mountain if he so decided. He had creamy skin that made her think of buttermilk. He was a bulk of a man but still handsome in his own right.

Who are you? How did I get here? Don’t touch me.

I am Qualin. I do not know how you arrived at this destination. I apologize for touching you; I was merely trying to wake you. Now that I have answered all of your questions; who are you? he said in an authoritative ton.

Oh, um my name is Destiny.

And how old are you Destiny?

I am 25 and a half. Wait, wait, wait, where is David? Where is LouLou? Where is my father?

Unfortunately as I do not know who you are I cannot even begin to understand as to who they are, let alone where they might be.

Oh. I seem to be lost again.

Well no that is most unfortunate. However, lucky for you I live in a rather large castle and I would be more than happy to allow you to stay in one of the rooms.

Why thank you that sounds most gracious.

If you would follow me and stay close the swamp is a dangerous place.

Swamp! Destiny said in a half crying voice then gulped.

Yes, swamp. Now do stay close.

For the first time Destiny found herself looking around; rather scared as to what she might encounter. The sun seemed to be going down in the sky. The swamp seemed to have a ridge right through it that allowed you to walk through the swamp without getting in the water. She had no idea how deep the water might have been but she dared not try it to find out. She noticed there seemed to be a lot of trees in the water as if it was woods that had just gotten flooded. She did notice there seemed to be a lot of buggies that had traveled through this road as it had a rut from the wagon wheels.

Do you often invite strangers to your home?

No only the ones I find intriguing. And my dear you are intriguing.

You not going to hurt me are you?

Oh no, my dear, no I’m not going to hurt you.

I don’t know what it is but something just seems wrong about him. Something is not quite right.

Why distrust him he has not hurt us yet.

    Did you say something Qualin?

No my dear, be careful the swamp can play tricks on you, make you believe things you shouldn’t.

I must be going crazy. He didn’t say anything. Something must be wrong with me.

Of course he didn’t say anything. It was us.

You mean I wasn’t dreaming you are real. It wasn’t just some crazy nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from. What is happening to me? What is going on?

We have already discussed this and I do not feel the need to go into it again. For now we will sleep; at least until we get to where we are going.

Wow. So it was real. They are a part of me. I guess I should be more aware of what is going on around me now. I not only have myself to take care of but three others depending on me. Still I’m not so sure with Qualin something is funny about him. Why would someone invite someone they didn’t know into their castle that just seems dangerous. I wonder if he wishes to hurt me.

At that moment Destiny noticed she had started to fall behind. She hurried down the road to catch up the strange man named Qualin. At that moment she realized, she was still dressed for the dance only she didn’t look so good. See had a lot of smoke marks, a lot of blood spots, and tears all over her dress. She realized she looked really bad.

Um Qualin will you have a place that I could clean up cause I look well…horrible.

Oh I apologize, where are my manners. I can fix that.

He lifted his hand and then began chanting. She could not make out what he was saying. Then she notices the hand that he was lifting started to glow orange. Then she felt herself get all warm like she was engulfed in sunshine. Then she looked down at herself, she was that the tears were starting to mend and the blood was just disappearing. She noticed the smoke going away. Eventually he just stopped and stared at her and shook his head approvingly.

    How…how…

    How did I do that?

Destiny just shook her head to show him he was correct in his assumption.

    Why with magic of course.

    Magic doesn’t exist.

Of course it does my dear. Everyone here has a little bit of magic. Why I’m sure even you can do something.

Destiny got quiet she could not give any indication as to the snakes. She did not want him to find out. No one could know or they might think strangely of her. They could not know, she didn’t even fully understand. Until she knew what is going on she had to be aware of people that might take advantage of her. She found herself a little embarrassed and looking at her own feet. That was when she noticed herself how she looked.

Wow I look like I’m about to go to the dance in town.

    Dance? What dance? What town?

I’m sorry I didn’t mean to say that out loud

They walked in silence the rest of the way to the castle. Destiny kept thinking about what he said about everyone can do a little magic. She was also thinking about whether that was a simple magic he just did or one that means he is very powerful and should be cautioned. Then the thought occurred to her, he could have killed me if he had wanted to or hurt me even.

Then Destiny began to notice the castle. It was at least two stories and had huge towers at the four corners. It looked as if a whole town could live there happily. Once you got up close there was a person who had to let the draw bridge down to allow entrance. She seemed kind of scared to cross the drawbridge as she had never seen one before and she noticed that right under it was the swamp all the way around the castle. She was afraid of what creatures might lay in the murky waters just below the surface.

Once inside it seemed even bigger than it had looked on the outside. There were people working farm land tending animals and even fields, there were markets of all sorts. It appeared as if the wall she came upon was a wall to keep the outside out and the inside in. Once she got inside she notice the actual castle. It seemed magical all on its own. It had at least 3 towers and it seemed to be 3 stories tall, standing taller than the outer wall. This gave it the appearance on the outside of being one enormous structure.

It took a little to make it up to the actual castle door. There were guards there. They bowed out of the way when Qualin came up.

These are my guards to my castle they make sure no perpetrators enter.

She took a look at both guards. The one on the left was ordinary enough. When she looked at the one on the right she kind of freaked out.

    What’s wrong?

He’s covered in blood. And his eyes are black as night. He’s evil. Get me away from him!

Destiny there is no blood on him anywhere.

Suddenly Destiny’s eyes glaze over and her eyes seem to have a white haze over them. She starts to speak but not as herself. It’s as if something is talking through her.

Your body may be clean, but your sssoul isss not. You have ssslain more than a few, enough that their blood could cover you! That isss not your only evil for the passst isss sssimply that the passst, it isss your future that bothersss me for by daysss end you will kill many!

Qualin was startled he didn’t know what to do. Did she really know this? Could it be true?

At the same moment that guard got nervous he tried to use his pike to spear Qualin. The good guard tackled him to the ground and managed to knock him on the head and to knock him unconscious.

Thank you my good man. You are very swift on your feet. You saved my life. I shall have to find some way to repay you. Now will you please take him to the dungeon for me?

It was nothing sir. Right away sir. I would feel delighted to relieve you of his presence.

How did you do that young lady? Did you know you could do that?

I apologize, sir, for that. I do not know what happened. As far as I know that has never happened to me before.

"Well regardless of whether or not you knew or even understand it, it seems I
