Introduction
Why don’t more people in our incredibly free and basically stable society go after their dream? Why do individuals not try to be something greater than just another gear in the great machine of corporate America? I often ponder these questions. We are given the gift of life and the ability to reason and to make choices, yet so many people go through their lives without using this free will. Why do we readily sacrifice our greatest gifts in order to fit into a mold that only benefits those who one day had a dream, followed it and now need workers to perpetuate it? Is it fear that holds us back? Fear of what, standing out or possibly being viewed as a failure? Are we conditioned to not expect great things of ourselves? Chances are if you are reading this book you were fortunate enough to be born into a society that is at least moderately educated and hopefully allows its citizens personal freedom. If this is the case then why are you not out going after your goals and dreams?
That is a question only you the reader can answer. The only reason I am asking it in this introduction is to make sure that you read it and ask it of yourself. There is no way I can motivate you to change your life or live a certain way unless you wish to do so. However, if deep down you are intrigued by chasing a dream and pursuing a goal, then I say read on and learn about the various steps that will help you get there. Maybe once you are armed with the knowledge and the ease with which anyone can at least begin thinking of attempting his/her goal you will be inspired to go for it.
My goal with this book is very simple. I wanted to give anyone who is interested a simple, concise and easy to understand program about working towards setting and then meeting goals and eventually achieving their dreams. In order to do this there are several steps that must be accomplished. The dream must be defined, a plan to achieve the dream must be created and finally, a person has to get started. There are all kinds of texts that attempt to communicate how to go after a goal, but in my opinion the majority of them over-complicate matters. They use everything from metaphysics to advanced psychology to get people in tune with the universe or their own inner excellence. I am not saying that there are not valid examples of those techniques working, but personally I wanted to give people a more simple option.
Also, most books deal with the motivation aspect of dream chasing. This book will not deal directly with that. People’s motivations are their own, and their desire and discipline is largely under their control. I want to offer the
