About this ebook
From the first page The Final War grows in intensity as two interwoven story threads reach a crescendo. Someone or something is killing the peacemakers of Earth and time is running out quickly! At the same time, the people of Earth are hurdling down a path to a war to end all wars. Somehow the two plots appear connected and may have something to do with the discovery of an ancient civilization's vacant city recently found under the grounds of Mars. The conflict however, is fought in more than one dimension and how it will end will keep you hanging till the last page.

It was late at night, when I suddenly awoke, where I should not have been sleeping. It took me a moment to recall that I was in my totally dark home laboratory. The sound I could not at first recognize was the Skype-D phone coming to life with a static crackle. The static was the air ionizing above its 2 foot horizontal gold imaging saucer. It sat on a short pedestal next to my cluttered desk, just a few feet away from, where I lay, on my now too frequently used convertible brown leather sofa. I slept there when I had worked too late and was too exhausted to make it to my bedroom. This was one of those nights. As I opened my burning dry eyes, 4 soft red camera lights, fixed to the tray ceiling molding, began to glow; but, they appeared fuzzy to my barely opened, sand-dry, eyes. I turned to look at the Skype-D. Just above the base of the gold dish the green characters 3:30 AM
were forming in the still unstable air. Next to it the red emergency call light was flashing with the gold ring, eagle and crest of CIA security behind it. I was not one to be inspired by it or want to salute.
I groggily put on my robe, slumped into my desk chair and said, MaryAnne, soft lights, please
and the lights came up. I said, Accept call with security.
Above the dish an image formed of Monique’s big brown eyes and full lipped smile which, like the sun, made my growing annoyance and aches vanish much as a morning mist. The pastel blue walls and brown hardwood floor of my lab suddenly reminded me of a forest at dawn and I wanted to put my arms around her and hug her in the tall grass. That instant dream vanished as she began to speak.
She said, Janr, I am sorry to disturb your sleep, I know how many hours you have been putting in between the software you are writing and the world wide Central Peace Initiative but this is truly an emergency and as you can see it is a classified CIA communication. There is a lot happening that we have been totally unprepared for!
My annoyance came back in a wave and I said, I am not part of the CIA nor have I ever been! When we were in college, they called us years ago for assistance and we came and helped. Its over and done. It was a great experience. We all stayed friends. But now I am going back to sleep!
A choleric like Monique was not to be put off. She said, Janr, a little over 24 hours ago, at 12:00 AM, your dear friend, the Dalai Lama, was assassinated in a most vicious manner.
As she spoke these words, adrenalin poured through my body and my heart began to pound, I was wide awake now!
She continued, He was electrocuted in his shower by a device which we believe was implanted during a plumbing service call a month earlier. It was not just an electrocution; it was torture! The pulsed current was used to paralyze but not kill, while short high voltage spikes were used to burn his body slowly. This left a burned twisted wreck of a body with the hideous stamp of pain and suffering on a deformed face. We need to know why and who did this!
Though I felt awake, I knew I was still in the hypnotic state that deep sleep creates, so Monique’s words triggered vivid memories of a CPI planning meeting 6 months earlier. I could clearly see us sitting at the ornate mahogany and empress green marble round table of the Tel Aviv Hilton. The stately oval room had been draped in heavy purple and gold curtains broken every 9 feet by floor to ceiling windows, embedded in the white stone walls that embraced them. Through these majestic windows a shaft of sunlight was shining on the Dalai Lama’s dark skinned scalp creating an aura of biblical saintliness. Next to him sat Pope John Paul III, Swami Chinmayananda, Rabbi Yitzchak Korer and a host of other world religious leaders. I had personally worked with these 4 great men for nearly 10 years planning the CPI. To me they were like the family, I never had. These were humble, men who lived to serve God and peace. I was honored to work with them not only because of my unique mental gifts, which might add to their security, but because of my compelling writing that had brought us all together initially. We all dreamed of bringing peace to the Earth as a welcome mat for the Messianic era, without the chaotic violence that some thought was a prior certainty. A lasting world peace was our unique opportunity, the reason for the CPI.
My reverie ended as I heard Monique still speaking, I know how important the Central Peace Initiative is to you; I believe there is a strong connection to his execution. You know that last month the Neo Al-Qaeda attempted to bomb the World Meeting For Religious Tolerance held in Jerusalem. Did you know they had planted multiple low impact plastic shrapnel bombs disguised as artificial flowers everywhere? If they had gone off, nearly a thousand people would have been turned into bloody pincushions. The goal was apparently to wound them beyond salvation and again to make them suffer through a long painful death. We believe this was planned by those who killed the Dalai Lama. Whoever is behind this seems set at destroying the very project you have put your heart into for the last 10 years, the CPI. I say this because almost before we knew about the Dalai Lama’s murder, false rumors were spreading that an extremist Christian group, was behind it. We think this was the first step in a process to derail the CPI.
Monique’s face was replaced by the image of my close friend, Q, whose real name was Eliot Qrenner. Q’s long face was lined with pain and dark shadows shown beneath his eyes. He looked exhausted. Q leaned forward and spoke in a voice nearly breaking with concealed passion, He said, Janr, do you remember 5 years ago when I moved my residence from upstate NY to the mountains of New Delhi, to work with and protect the Dalai Lama? We both were sure we could keep him safe despite the threats from Tibet. We both have the PSI skills the CIA sought yet we failed!
Q’s eyes were rimmed in red and as he reached up to wipe the tears that were about to fall from his eyes as he continued, His death came with no warning. Even though I was only a few hundred feet away in another room, I knew nothing! I know you had no warning either. That someone could do this endangers not only the CPI but the very existence of our civilization!
It was obvious that he could no longer hold his composure and Monique’s image quickly replaced his.
Monique continued, "We have also received, on good authority, that there will be an attempt on the Pope’s life at his home in the Apostolic Palace in Rome. A CIA crawler bot was able to find a, as yet unpublished, draft document describing the bombing of the Apostolic Palace by Hindi.
Finally, Bill Crichton, the new CIA director, called me just a few minutes earlier and asked that we put together our old team to help them find and stop these terrorists. We cannot do this without you. They will have an AirJet car pick you up at 6:40 AM today, please pack whatever you need and be ready. Marcy, Q, Ibrahim and myself will all be meeting you in Washington this morning for a secret briefing breakfast. Bill has offered to have a team of engineers attempt to continue your software development while we are gone. I told him you would approve." I nodded affirmatively, but did not really expect them to make any progress; my work was too unique for them to comprehend. There was also my daily blog and
