The Making of a Martyr: A Work of Fiction Concerning the Last Days
()
About this ebook
This is both a work of fiction and nonfiction. The work of fiction concerns the journal of one man's journey through the maze of a dystopian world, written subsequent to the rapture of the church during the rise of the new world order along with the prophesied coming of the Antichrist. It is written as a testimony to others that will be following in his footsteps to both warn and to encourage those now living in a world where to be known as a believer is an immediate death sentence. The non-fiction portion of the book is based upon over forty years of extensive study of the Word of God and will illuminate my reasoning behind the events and their timeline as depicted in this tale with extensive scriptural support. I am one who believes in Sola Scriptura--the Word alone defines and interprets itself. This book is a testimony to the sovereignty of God and as witness to those who find themselves living during these soon coming perilous days. For those who are longing for our Lord's return, may this book encourage the reader to delve deeper into his Word.
Book Two The Journey of a Martyr's Companion (coming soon).

Preface
This fictional work is based upon extensive study of the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, concerning the coming seventieth week of God’s judgment upon man and creation. The purpose is twofold: First, to educate current believers of how all of Scripture from the Old Testament prophecies to their fulfillment intertwines perfectly to create a clear picture of what is coming upon those who are called to live in those incredibly perilous days. We must not be ignorant of the handwriting on the wall. It should encourage us to live a life knowing that the time is near and warning others as God gives opportunity. Secondly, to give a ray of hope to those who may find themselves in the position of being left behind,
as a popular book series describes those not taken in the rapture. I do believe that the Word does teach of an event that today wears the moniker of the rapture
to which many are opposed to being a doctrine of Scripture.
I have also included an appendix that will illuminate my reasoning behind the events and their timeline as depicted in this tale with extensive scriptural support including the rapture. I am one who believes in Sola Scriptura, and everything that God wants his own to know is found within the pages of the entire Word of God. May this book bless the reader.
Prologue to the Journal
What follows are excerpts from many journals I have kept for a little over eight years since the day my life changed forever in the blink of an eye. My journalizing days are now over, so I want to keep this more on point as much as is possible for the reader. I know for certain that my remaining life upon this earth is now measured weeks, days, or moments as I am running out of options staying ahead of the executioner. I am not afraid to die; I am looking forward to being with my Lord, but if I am alive, I will continue to work for him in this nightmare of a world. Currently, I have a source for getting this abbreviated journal in e-book form out to hundreds or thousands of others as a testimony to God’s faithfulness to me to encourage others in my same predicament and as a witness to those yet to believe. If one soul finds salvation through the witness contained in this condensed version of my journals, I will consider my journals to be a total success.
The days are flying by, and there is not much time left for anyone. I plan to go down contending for our Lord’s Gospel. The names have been changed to protect the innocent; call me John Doe. The excerpts have been edited because they may have contained too much traceable information such as locations and specific incidents as CCTV is the new Big Brother
; I want myself and others to be as invisible as possible. Beware of the kiddy corps; just like Hitler’s youth, they have been brainwashed to turn in anyone that does follow in lockstep to the New World Order. It is not just my life that depends on it. We have learned that if caught to pull a Sergeant Shultz—I know nothing
—which is, sad to say, not always the case, betrayal is rampant. Let my tale begin.
From the Beginning
Since 2020, life in this country for the past few years has been like a roller coaster, always wondering what was awaiting us around the corner. We had what we thought were real downers, then a ray of sunshine would give us some hope. We have a new president now who is seeking to put us back on an even keel; we shall see. I figured then that he could not be any worse than his predecessor. He did come in like a freight train, and his popularity immediately began to soar here and overseas. Of course, it has only been a few months; time will tell.
I am now a lot older and wiser, but back then I realized that I was truly clueless in so many ways. Also, I did not start this journal immediately after what I now know was the rapture of those who were truly born again. For years I believed with my whole heart that I was a Christian: I was baptized, I attended church regularly, I tried to live a good life, but I know now that I had deceived myself. It was a hard journey for three years from that fateful day before Christ would open my eyes, my heart, and flood my soul with his grace. The sad part was that I was not alone by a long shot as will become clear in my journal.
This first part of the journal concerns my journey before Christ and was written as such—looking for answers. The second part of my journal details my life after the answers I was seeking came from my personal encounter with the Savior and his grace. My life has been anything but idyllic since that day, but I would not trade my current situation for anything else this world could offer. I and many others consider that we live in a world of zombies: dead people looking for anyone and everyone to destroy that profess Christ as Savior. Every day is always possibly our last upon this earth, but as Paul said. To live is Christ.
Our gain will come in his time—not until then.
The Journey
Recalling the events of the last month or so
About a month ago on a Friday, a day I will never forget, my friend Jack from church called, saying he needed some cheering up and wanted to know if I would go bowling with him. I hated bowling, but he was my best friend. It seemed his work was becoming almost unbearable, and it affected his marriage because he was bringing work home with him. We, or should I say he, bowled, and I avoided damaging the pins as best I could. We chatted a while after, and he seemed to perk up a bit. We agreed on Sunday after church he and Jill would go out for lunch with me and my wife, Jane.
When I came home from bowling around ten or so, Jane was on the sofa, listening to music and reading a book. She had been feeling sick to her stomach the last couple of days, and we were both wondering if this was a sign that she was pregnant. We talked for a while about how exciting it would be if we were about to have an addition to our family. Then after a quick shower, I slid into bed beside her, and we both drifted off—that was the last time I ever saw or talked to Jane. When I awoke a while later for the call of nature, she was gone.
At first, I thought she had gone downstairs to continue reading, but she was nowhere to be found. Later I discovered her bed clothes were still in the bed under the covers. I was in a tizzy when around 1:30 a.m. Jill called; Jack never made it home. She had called the police and was told that there was a rash of missing persons, so get in line. Got in my car to go retrace Joe’s normal path home, saw his car at a local Quickie mart, talked to the clerk who remembered Joe buying a cream soda, some chips, and left. Later he noticed the car was still there, but the guy was nowhere around. I went to his car and looked in. The soda was overturned and empty on the seat in a pile of his clothes. A million thoughts began racing through my head that night: could the rapture have occurred and I was left behind? That possibility had always been something I was terrified might happen—but I was Christian, and everyone knows that all Christians will be raptured. Right?
I remember finding the book Left Behind later that day and reading, scanning as fast as I could. I turned on the news to see if all the things this book said would happen did happen. If a rapture really did occur, the book and the news are on two different planets or something—nothing was the same. News of missing persons being reported everywhere but not masses of people. There were some empty car accidents, but no planes falling out of the sky, no massive amount of traffic accidents, no earthquakes, no cities on fire, no reports of death on an epic scale.
The news was abuzz with those who had witnessed people disappearing right before their eyes while other news fronts seemed quiet; there is a brief time delay or something before all hell breaks loose. Then it dawned on me to call family. Mom and Dad seemed to be doing okay and had no idea what I was talking about. They hated to watch the news anymore because to them it seemed that it was always bad news. Later they would let me know that a few relatives disappeared but no one too close to home. My dad never went to church, and my mom was an Easter and Christmas attender. My dad would only go to funerals if they were held outdoors; the one time he did go was my wedding. Later, as you will see, he became my hero during the worst of the worst. Later, I would learn that Jill’s mother disappeared that night. I never knew her mom. Her father and older brother had died years earlier in a car accident, leaving her an only child. Too much to fathom for one day, and it was around midnight when I decided to get some sleep.
No such luck. Sleeping seemed to elude my person, and I turned on the TV and watched every news channel or show I could find. Later in the day, some religious pundits came on the news and were claiming that the hammer of God was about to fall. I wonder how they would know that.
On Sunday I got to the church right at 10:00 a.m. There was a large crowd at the church. The chatter back and forth was deafening; I could hardly hear myself think. What I did make out was that several people had remarkably similar experiences to mine. Later I realized that much of the crowd had no clue as to what had happened and were looking for a quick fix.
When the preacher came in and quieted the crowd—he had followed all the reports—he wanted to assure everyone that the rapture had not occurred as his and our presence verified that fact. He did say he was at a loss but was sure God would give him clear direction in time. His sermon for the next thirty to forty minutes seemed like a lot of mumbo-jumbo; I did not have a clue what he was talking about. As I left the church, the deafening roar reared its ugly head again, everyone wanting to get their two cents in. Sunday was one of the worst days of my life—is there going to be a hammer?
I remember getting up early on Monday before going into
