ABOUT Joe Gandelman
FIRST: A SPECIAL WORD TO YOU…
(without moving my lips, of course…)
Let’s Get Motivated….
Greetings! This book is written JUST for you. How can that be? A lot of books have been written on ventriloquism. Many are good (many are quite lousy) and a lot of them do have important, detailed material that takes a lot of time to learn. You can buy excellent, expensive, detailed courses to learn ventriloquism. And you can contact a ventriloquist who’ll charge you a great deal of money to do a series of lessons to learn it.
Many years ago I met a veteran journalist who was almost ecstatic because he had gotten a parent to pay $500 for ventriloquism lessons for their kid. Some people think that’s the only way to learn it. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!
This is exactly why I wrote Super-Simplified Ventriloquism.
I’ve long contended that many materials on the market confuse people about ventriloquism so people feel overwhelmed. In 1989, I attended my first international ventriloquism convention and began a long and basically fruitless quest to offer my services to the folks who plan to the convention to help teach kids in particular about ventriloquism official at the convention. I clamored with my offer for years, and they eventually started teaching it along the lines of what I had suggested since 1989, but I was not invited. Even so, starting when I went fulltime in November 1990 I began a personal quest to teach young people in particular how to do ventriloquism. Quickly. Easily. And this continues to this day.
Some years ago I met someone who called me The Johnny Appleseed of Ventriloquism,
and while that may not be accurate, I have taught literally THOUSANDS of people of all ages across the country (even a comedienne on cable TV) how to do vent
since going leaving the newspaper business and becoming a fulltime national performer.
I’ve taught them at private parties, in libraries, during special bits at fairs – even during a special three hour how to do ventriloquism workshop for a corporation in Irvine, CA, whose boss felt his sales people could perform better at their job if they learned a fun hobby.
Then, in 2008, I appeared on comedian Margaret Cho’s VHI reality show The Cho Show
in a segment in which I showed her, her sidekick and her mother how to do ventriloquism. . She joked around on the aired footage but Cho, in fact, had learned some basics rapidly.
Super-Simplified Ventriloquism is a book that will get you off and running quickly so you can talk without moving your lips most of the time and, with just a little more effort, totally perfect it. In record time. At minimal financial cost. And it will also motivate you to learn and keep working on it. There is nothing padded here (although I do make a few hopefully not lame attempts at humor).
There’s nothing wrong with a detailed book on how to learn ventriloquism. It is a fact that to learn something you must study and practice hard…and, in that sense, ventriloquism isn’t any different than anything else you’ve ever tried or will try.
In fact, I have seen that for every 10 people who want to learn ventriloquism only about one or two actually spend the time they need to spend practicing. The rest talk, stop practicing and forever move their lips when they talk. Then they just give up –
