The goal of graphs: communicate (visually)
The big goal of data visualisation and the role of the designer is making numbers communicate a message, a story or a vision. This transformation is very sensitive: in visualisation details are lost, so where is the boundary between message and misinformation, faking, or even misguiding?
Graphing as the basis of data visualisation remains a simple transformation so the danger of misguiding is smaller than in more complex data visualisations. But as we can see in the book "The Wall Street Journal" (see below) even in simple graphs there are many mistakes to make.
What about
