TIMES ARE TOUGH RIGHT NOW, and making sure you’re not overwhelmed by the world around you is imperative to keeping a happy and healthy mind. And what better way to do that than with your own personal diary? Sure, there’s nothing quite like putting pen to paper, even in this digital age, but for many of us typing is now far faster and far more efficient for conveying our thoughts down than a pen ever will be.

How do you do it though? Well in this technological age, there’s certainly options out there. However, most of those incorporate a blog of some description. One of the biggest weaknesses of blogging is that it’s so public. Sure, you can lock down your blog, but unless you’re hosting it on your own local server, it can leak online despite your best efforts. And if it’s not a private blog? Well you’re limited by all those pesky social norms, forcing you into censoring what you might actually be feeling emotionally. Lifeograph (http://lifeograph.sourceforge.net) is designed to provide you with a journal that’s offline and—through password-protected encryption—private. It’s clean and simple to use, but dig a little deeper into it and you can get even more from it than just its simple text-based scribbles.
