Rios grew up in and around Colorado and California from the hustle of the big city in Denver to the farming community in Pueblo then to various cities in and around California.A prolific story teller from early on, his characters have blossomed as they now leap off the pages through written words.While testing the waters of different trades his zeal has always been and always will be the characters in his dreams.Through his travels from The Bronx of New York City to Colorado then to the West Coast and the experience's he encountered only adds to the enjoyment to his stories.Growing up across America Robert was strongly influenced as a story teller by what he saw and experienced. Special thanks go to my grandson Nathan who inspired me to tell and write these stories about The Adventures of Nathan as it has been our experience together. These bedtime stories about The Adventures of Nathan have been his favorite as together we have seen Nathan developing his special powers and adventures along with his sidekick Michael! This is the first book in a series to come.

Chapter 1

The Adventure Begins!

With shock and awe I was head butted by our large male Billy goat named Big Red. With his two foot long twisted horns I was hit in the chest with such tremendous force! Yes I was tossed across the barn like a rag doll. A little dazed and partly out of breath I scrambled to my feet as I prepared to flee.

Running toward me after that, still with a demonized look in his eyes he again reared his ugly head up onto his two hind legs with his head tilted upward…that should have been a sign for me to high tail it out of there. Now frozen in fear I just stood there, then with a swift thump to the chest I went flying…AGAIN! Now laying there on the floor of the barn unable to catch my breath he approached me again, I could only watch as he reared up his ugly head to strike me once again but this time it was obvious that he was coming in for the kill!

Then suddenly out of nowhere, Nathan took hold of its immense two foot long horns and wrestles him to the ground as he twisted his head. Now distracted and dazed Big Red just stood there looking a bit confused and unsteady while still trying to get his footing, he does this long enough so that Nathan could drag me out of there. I had only entered the barn to feed and milk the goats, but without warning, Big Red who is known for his nasty personality caught me by surprise.

Where Nathan came from I don’t know nor do I really care I was just glad he was there at that moment! Yes my best friend Nathan had saved my life that day. In fact it’s a little strange how Nathan always seemed to be around…just when I needed him most! As I remember growing up alongside Nathan, we were pretty much just like every other kid growing up in the early nineteen fifty’s.

What I mean by normal, is in the way we played and the trouble we often got ourselves into…just like all the other boys our age! You see…back then in the mid 1950's…growing up in a small rural town community like ours had its perks and benefits. I'm sure you can understand what I mean when I say that it has its way of sealing bonds of friendship between boys, which will carry you through a lifetime. So it was in the case with Nathan and me.

Now before we get too far I need to tell you a little about myself and about a story that seems so farfetched that at times it is even hard for me to believe. But mind you, IT IS ALL TRUE! The
