The Tenth Date

The pair stood looking out over the ocean, a light sea breeze caressing their faces. The full moon cut a silver path across the smooth surface of the water all the way into shore.

Owen took a deep breath, the faint scent of salt in the air. He glanced at his companion and saw that Tori was busy gazing wide-eyed at the moon. Her long, dark hair dancing lazily about her shoulders in the breeze. Her lips were full and painted red and her black dress reflected some of the moonlight, making it look like it had a sheen to it.

They’d just had dinner at a nearby restaurant and decided to take a walk down to the beach while the food settled in their stomachs. Owen had met Tori six weeks ago via a reputable internet dating site. Things had been progressing quite nicely, although a little too slowly for Owen’s liking. Tonight’s dinner had been their ninth official date. As far as anything physical was concerned, the ‘relationship’ hadn’t been advancing very much.
