About this audiobook

A bundle of books #1 (FACE OF DEATH) and #2 (FACE OF MURDER) in Blake Pierce’s Zoe Prime Mystery series! This bundle offers books one and two in one convenient file, with over 100,000 words of reading.

In FACE OF DEATH, FBI Special Agent Zoe Prime suffers from a rare condition which also gives her a unique talent—she views the world through a lens of numbers. The numbers torment her, make her unable to relate to people, and give her a failed romantic life—yet they also allow her to see patterns that no other FBI agent can see. Zoe keeps her condition a secret, ashamed, in fear her colleagues may find out. Yet when a serial killer strikes across the Midwest, strangling women in remote places and seemingly at random, Zoe, for the first time, is stumped. Is there a pattern? Can there be no pattern at all? Or is this killer as obsessed with numbers as she is? In a mad race against time, Zoe must enter the diabolical mind of a killer who always seems to be one step ahead of her, and stop him from claiming his next victim before it’s too late. At the same time, she must keep at bay her own demons, which may ultimately prove to be even more threatening.

In FACE OF MURDER, when women are found murdered, their bodies branded with mysterious numbers, outside Washington, D.C., the FBI, stumped, calls in Special Agent Zoe Prime to decipher the mathematical riddle and find the serial killer. Yet the numbers make no sense. Are they a pattern? A formula? Or do they have no meaning at all? Zoe, reeling from her own personal troubles, hasn’t the luxury of time, as more bodies pile up, and as all eyes turn to her to solve an equation that, perhaps, cannot be solved. Will she catch the killer in time?

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, The Zoe Prime mystery series will leave you turning pages late into the night.

It's a fantastic series and actually a bit sad. I found myself sad for what the killer had endured to get to the angry and mentally torn person they had become. Zoey is a really fascinating character. I love the bond the partners have formed. I've now had to read about synesthesia and realized I had actually read about it before. It's a truly interesting condition. There are various types. It's an interesting subject the author chose for the main character.

Face of Death: Zoe Prime #1.
FBI Special Agent and profiler Zoe Prime suffers from a rare mental condition which also gives her a unique talent and gift—she views the world through a lens of numbers and patterns. This condition being diagnosed in her as a young child brought alienation and verbal abuse from her over righteous mother. It’s “the devil’s gift” she would say berating her. However, her “gift” allows her to see patterns that no other FBI agent can see and aids her to successfully solve cases. As such, she can tract down a serial killer, because she is able to think the same as a serial killer. She examines, identities, and sees the scientific and mathematical pattern a killer follows.

However, Zoe keeps her condition a secret, ashamed, and in fear her colleagues may find out. Unable to relate to people or have any real relationships, she has been assigned new partners on a regular basis, the latest partner being Shelley. Together, they must work to trust each other to capture a monster whose favorite method of killing is slicing the victim’s neck open with wire. Clues that don’t make sense, victims that don’t make sense, places that don’t make sense. Now there’s a race against the clock!

Face of Murder: Zoe Prime #2
What an awesome book!! I had things I needed to do yesterday when I started reading Face of Murder, but they didn't get done because all I wanted to do was sit and read. Zoe Prime is a fascinating character with her synesthesia and a lack of social skills. I have not read the first book in the series so I'm not sure if Zoe is on the autism scale, but Mr. Pierce hits just the right tone for Zoe's dialogue and thinking. While this isn't a shoot 'em up, beat 'em up investigation, it is a detailed, realistic (for the most part) portrayal of law enforcement procedure. Don't let that make you think it is staid or boring; it is neither. There are plenty of twists and turns and surprises along the way. I will be checking out the first book in the series and can't wait to get my hands on book #3. I recommend you do the same!
