About this audiobook

Cherringham - a quiet town in the Cotswolds. Nothing ever happens there, or so it seems - until one morning a woman's body is found in the river. A terrible accident, according to the police. But is this true? Sarah believes there must be more to it. In Jack, a former NYPD homicide detective, she finds a partner who is willing to start investigating with her. They soon find out that things are not as clear as the police want them to be ... This first - of many cases brings Sarah and Jack together in an unlikely partnership.

Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new audio episode released every two weeks. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who series, Caroline Graham's Midsomer Murders, and the American TV series Murder She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury.

This is a bit of a mixed review. First the good. It is written in simple language with sarcasm and humour thrown in. This fact makes it refreshing as apposed to the dryness of an Agatha Christie novel. Now the bad. The murder mystery is too simple. One clue leads to another clue and then another clue and then the murderer. No twists or turns, just simply follow the clues. The most disappointing part was that the author never bothered to explain why the police could not have made some effort in solving the murder. An Agatha Christie has no loose ends! This is full of them. It feels like the author could not be bothered to clean up the loose ends, and add twists and turns and explain why the police had no interest in solving the murder.

Really enjoyed this. I liked the pairing of Jack and Sarah and the writing style made for an interesting but not too bloodthirsty detective story. Easy yet absorbing listening. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Great book. i can't wait to start the next in the series. I wish they would list them in order as my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be. There is probably a way I can sort them myself but haven't figured it out yet.

I like this murder mystery and the interesting characters. It will be very interesting getting to know more about Jack's background and whether Sara will start a detective agency or not.
