About this audiobook

The elderly owner of Mogdon Manor, Victor Hamblyn, dies in a mysterious fire. But was it really an accident? Jack and Sarah are skeptical ... The victim's three middle-aged children, who all live in the village of Cherringham, are possible heirs. And possible murderers ... Did one of them set the fire?

Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new audio episode released every two weeks. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who series, Caroline Graham's Midsomer Murders, and the American TV series Murder She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury.

An interesting tale of a wealthy family governed by greed, jealousy and sibling rivalry.

No objectionable material but not silly or cheesy. Fun relationships.

A big meh. Local bumpkin fire dept can't figure out how fire in house started but retired New York cop can. Not much of mystery story.

Indeed cosy crime! Just the right amount of tea and sandwiches, gossip in a rural village! Characters painted well and not an ounce of gore and horror. OK so yes murders but you know ?

I enjoyed the characters, storyline and narration but the author failed to solve the mystery! Early on, the victim is killed when someone covers his mouth in the secret attic room during a fire, then runs off. When the conflict is resolved in the end, there is NO mention of this person or the action, only that one of the victim’s son’s is responsible for an accidental fire. Grrr!

I love listening to these stories... There's a great twist in this one.

    (EDIT: I just learned #3 is missing... :( )

Another excellent mystery. I think Neil Dudgeon is my new favourite narrator (but I also love Hugh Fraser).

Nothing complicated or fancy but a good well written plot. If you like English mysteries but don`t want to commit to an 8 hour listen this is a great series.
