Amber is constantly questioning herself about joining the FBI, if that were really the best choice she could have made, now she hunts criminals and she knows that someone is hunting her. In Absent Life she and Simon are hunting a criminal who builds puzzles where he kills his victims. There is a good plot, the story is fast-paced and kept my interest from the beginning. There are very few puzzles that Amber Young, genius puzzle editor turned FBI special agent, cannot solve. Amber, though, is at a loss when a body is found in an elaborate maze inside of a warehouse, the victim of a killer's sick game. What puzzle was the victim forced to crack?

And can Amber crack it before the killer claims his next victim? The senior agent in charged wants them to charged Mr. Mrak Julyan but agent Amber was sure that he was the scapegoat and not the killer. She continues to work the case until she to killer who has taken another victim ready to kill her. The killer happens to be a man who has worked for the construction company that design the warehouse. He is known as Mr. Louis Farnby and he tried to kill the agent and was stops.
