About this audiobook

There are two things that can’t talk—moving pictures and dead showgirls…

1920, Wellington, New Zealand. Grace Devine is poised to build her thriving dress design business as the twenties begin to soar. But when a fashionable client is murdered, suspicion falls on Grace as the last person to see Agatha alive.

As wary clients cancel and business begins to fail, Grace decides there’s only one way to prove her innocence and save her career…this seamstress will turn sleuth to find who really murdered the showgirl.

The more she learns, the more she uncovers of the darker side of the dead woman’s personality. Agatha liked to collect secrets and use them against people. But what target snapped that fatal night? Can Grace stitch together the clues before her life is torn apart…

These heart-warming historical mysteries will send you on a unique New Zealand adventure.

Great book, set in New Zealand with a hint of regency England, I would love the writer to follow it up with the main character working with the police using her visions. I highly recommend this book..

Loved the setting. Loved the very likeable characters and a snapshot into New Zealand in 1920. I wish there was more description on that actually, and hoping subsequent books in the series have more on it. The plot and story were basic and pleasant reading. Not too high stakes but not boring. It wasn’t blow-your-hair-back action; just enjoyable listening. Will continue with the series if there are more.

Despite the silly title pun, this was an enjoyable, evocative (of post-war and post-influenza outbreak life in New Zealand) mystery! I'll definitely read book two because the magic is just emerging. Tilly Wallace is very adept at merging a realistic, well-reseached historical story with the fantastic & uncanny.
