A little hard to follow because of several converging story lines. Read other books in series first or be prepared for tempting bits of longer stories. Not a bad introduction to series if you want to see how the author deals with emotional characters and content. Just very little resolution. Some important epiphanies for characters so if you are familiar with characters and their stories it can be very satisfying. I have read all of the Venus School and Stronghold books so I really enjoyed it as a lead in to the later books. Not required to follow or enjoy later books but a nice bonus.
