The first time I've actually finished a Gary Furlong narration. I usually find his voice a tad monotonous, but here he put his heart and soul into Cam and Reuben's story...and what a great story it is. I absolutely LOVE Jay's stories [there isn't one I haven't read], and although I have to say I do prefer the Southern Lights series, Off Balance, book 1 of the new Painted Bay series, was one of my books of 2020. As long as Mr Furlong continues to put his heart and soul into narrating Jay's work, I will continue to listen to the audios too.

Narrator Gary Furlong did an excellent job delivering a fulsome heavy drama and internal dialogues and struggles. I did not lose any interest. Was able to listen in one sitting. Being a rugby fan myself, and a Springbok supporter by blood, I enjoyed the team comradery and the game itself as well. I could hear the Haka and it gave me goosebumps, the author did a very good job of balancing the sport and love story. OK, I could do with more Rugby, but that is just me. The other dramatic factors, the family problems and was also just enough to be believable. I will definitely listen to book 3 in this series. I love the characters this author creates.

Im from South Africa. Did the AB win that day against the Springboks xxx

If only coming out was actually not necessary in any sport or society. Loved the story and its characters

I literally cursed when it was over, which I honestly shouldn't, because it's 5.30 in the morning and I've listened to this in one go so my ears are falling off, but I just didn't want it to end. Reuben and Cameron are two characters I'm not going to forget and their story was so good it had me feeling all the emotions there is. I've been nervous, angry and shocked all while laughing and maybe crying a little. The story was hot, cute and interesting at the same time, and though it brings up some really deep and serious issues that had my heart aching, it brings so much hope and love with it too. 10/10 would recommend. Oh and chefs kiss for the narrator, good freaking job!

This is an amazing book with great characters, beautiful writing, a heartwarming story and an excellent narrator. Time to read the next book in the series!

The book is well written and the narration is amazing, I love Gary Furlong! However, the homophobia on page and the fact that Reuben took too long to stand up for himself was too much for me, so I struggled a little to finish the book.

Best book I’ve listened to in a long time! I knew I liked Cam in the first book but was blown away by him in his story. I loved everything: characters, story, narration, all of it.

After book 1, I wanted to know Cam better and book 2 did not disappoint. I truly enjoyed getting to know all of these characters. What a great journey to figuring out what matters! On to book 3...
