About this audiobook

In a twisted turn of fate, young widow Jessa McConnell seeks comfort in the arms of HERO Force commander Jax Anderson, the man she holds responsible for the death of her husband and unborn child. Now she’s carrying Jax’s baby and desperate to escape his influence, unable to forgive him and open her heart to the man who took away everyone she loved years earlier.

Navy SEAL Jax Andersson always liked his friend’s wife a little too much, but the one night of passion they shared is proof positive they were meant to be together. He doesn’t want to let her go, and when he fears for her safety, he has no choice but to follow her trail to protect the woman he loves—whether she wants his protection or not.

Together they’ll fight against a hidden enemy determined to take her life. But when Jax learns of Jessa’s deception, will he ever forgive her for trying to take his child away?

I'm a USA Today bestselling author with three kids, a husband, a slightly stinky and poorly trained dog, and an ancient calico cat who doesn't like people. My house is in a perpetual state of disarray despite my constant attempts to clean it. Old women at grocery stores tell me how lucky I am, that it all goes so fast, and I nod my head and say something pithy like, "It sure does!" while trying to keep the baby from changing the language on the card reader screen or voiding my entire transaction. I'm that woman. People ask when I find time to write, and I point to my husband, the sweet frazzled sight of him as he hoses down a screaming child with one hand and unloads the dishwasher with the other. That, my friends, is romance. Well, it's what the best romances turn into if you're lucky. As you read this, I'm probably putting someone into time-out, cleaning something, or explaining to my progeny why I put him/her into time-out or why I shouldn't have to clean whatever it was I just cleaned. Or maybe, if your timing is just perfectly right, I'm sitting on the purple reclining loveseat in a basement full of toys, writing my next big novel while my husband takes care of the chaos for a while. For him, and for the kids and the stinky, cranky pets, and for the opportunity to tell you a story, I am grateful. I hope you enjoy my work.

Hmm… this book had me fired up and not in a good way. TRIGGER: oh well… I can't word it without telling you exactly what happened but let me tell you… it had me pissed off for most of the book. Let me just say, grief is no excuse to be a jerk to someone, especially if you don't know the whole story. Jessa is one heroine that I could not find it in my heart to like. She was rude and whiny for most of the story. I felt bad for Jax because he not only had to grieve his friend's death but bear her wrath as well. I was so glad the main plot took point in the story as quickly as it did. I liked the mystery of it. There was a lot more action in this book so that had me on the edge of my seat. All in all, this book was ok. Not the best so far.

I absolutely hated both of the MCs and do not see the HEA lasting. The h was hateful through 97% of the story and the H was a man-child. Like the series but not this story.
