About this audiobook
I think I’m making it worse.
Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back.
Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits.
But if there’s an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can’t have the planet, they’re sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.
But there’s something wrong with Murderbot; it isn’t running within normal operational parameters. ART’s crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza’s SecUnit–heavy persuasion teams, they’re going to have to
hope Murderbot figures out what’s wrong with itself, and fast.
Editor's Note
Hugo Award-winning series…
Murderbot is functioning below capacity. Why? It’s awkward because diagnostics can’t pinpoint what’s wrong. But the bot/human construct must find out so it can save a group of human colonists from a corporate plot to enslave them. The seventh installment in Wells’ Hugo Award-winning series is a novel-length follow-up to “Network Effect,” and it brings all the snark and sci-fi feels fans know and love, along with a new (perhaps more human?) side of SecUnit.

Thank you. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5adventure comes to an end. Another story needs to be told asap.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a good book. This book goes a little deeper as Murderbot is having a harder time than usual not just physically but psychologically. Everything is catching up with Murderbot but luckily it has a wonderful team of bots and humans around for backup. Very atmospheric and wonderful world building - Martha Wells has done it again! This is classic, great work that moves Murderbot's story forward and explores new ground. The only thing I guess is a CW for the experience of strong anxiety and also trauma flashbacks.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another fantastic installment! I can listen to Murderbot all day!

Murderbot, ART's crew, and a team from Preservation are trying to save the colonists on a planet that has alien contamination, giving them the option of leaving or staying with no strings. But the Barish-Estranza Corporation wants the planet for the minerals (alien artifacts) and the colonists (slave labor) and will do (kill) anything to get their profits.
Book seven of the series picks up from the last, but Murderbot is having issues, and for the first few chapters it's REDACTED, which by the third mention, because of its tone, got me snorting. The author didn't overdo it and time it perfectly when it was unredacted.
Even for a short story, the book felt slow, but I still love Murderbot, its humor, and hero complex.
While the book isn't overly graphic, there are adult themes and violence, which is why it's more suitable for readers eighteen and over, but readers as young as sixteen, as long as they are mature, would also enjoy this.
I highly recommend this series! I just wish the books were longer!
