About this audiobook

The final book in the New York Times bestselling Gwendy’s Button Box trilogy from Stephen King and Richard Chizmar.

When Gwendy Peterson was twelve, a mysterious stranger named Richard Farris gave her a mysterious box for safekeeping. It offered treats and vintage coins, but it was dangerous. Pushing any of its eight colored buttons promised death and destruction. Years later, the button box reentered Gwendy’s life. A successful novelist and a rising political star, she was once again forced to deal with the temptation the box represented. Now, malignant forces seek to possess the button box, and it is up to Senator Gwendy Peterson to keep it from them at all costs. But where can one hide something from such powerful entities?

In Gwendy’s Final Task, master storytellers Stephen King and Richard Chizmar take us on a journey from Castle Rock to another famous cursed Maine city to the MF-1 space station, where Gwendy must execute a secret mission to save the world. And, maybe, all worlds.

Beautifully written and it took me right back to the days of King and Straub writing Blackhouse and Talisman. In my humble opinion the collaboration was a huge success.

I loved the first two books but I couldn't finish this one ? It really was just too political for me.

The story would have been more effective told chronologically. Her progression in D.C. to the Senate should have been the start of her cognitive decline, then her willingness to enter space would have made more sense. That way the reason to dispose of the button box would have fallen in line with her mission rather then being forced to listen to unnecessary political opinions of the authors. If Gwendy would have learned of Ryan's death and the house fire both while in space, as a deterrent not to get rid of the box, then the deception of Winston as the antagonist would have made more sense.

I greatly enjoyed the first two books in this trilogy, however, the political rhetoric in this book made it almost unbearable at times. It was distracting and it didn't feel like King's writing. King often includes political jabs, but they don't distract from the story. If it weren't for my loyalty to King's writings in general, I would have stopped bothering with this story about a third of the way through. I enjoy his books as an escape... If I wanted to hear political agenda I'd watch the evening news.

Another King book filled with his political ideals and nonsense. If you are a Trump hating Democrat than I’m sure you will love this one. I on the other hand do not read or listen to any books with political under tones at all. What a shame Mr King..stick with story telling that doesn’t have your shit political views involved. Or just stop writing all together.
