About this audiobook

Be careful what you wish for . . . You just might get it. Nick Gautier is tired of his destiny. He doesn't want to be the son of a demon who's fated to end the world. Nor does he want to see another demon or other preternatural creature who wants to kill or enslave him. He just wants to be normal and have normal problems like everyone else.

But normality isn't all it's cracked up to be. When he gets sucked into an alternate reality where his mother has married his mentor and his Atlantean god best friend has become a human geek, he begins to understand that no life is free of pain, and that every person has a specific place in the universe . . . Even the son of a hated demon. Most of all, he sees that his powers aren't the curse he thought they were, and that the world needs a champion, especially one its enemies can't imagine rising up to defend the ones he should destroy.

Old enemies and new friends square off for a major battle that will either restore Nick to his real world, or end him forever in #1 bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon's fifth novel in The Chronicles of Nick series, Illusion.

    4.5 stars! SQUEE!!!
I loved this book so so much. I was extremely hesitant to start this since the last book left off the way it did. I mean, I loved the Nick I've been reading about for the past few books, I don't want to read about some Normal Nick (even if it IS the same Nick, but trapped in another Nick's body)...I was so devastated at the end of that book, so I didn't want to start this one, I just couldn't bear it. I hate it when good books, spend so many novels building up the characters and the atmosphere and all that, and suddenly something happens, or one of the characters does something stupid and it pretty much deletes everything I've learned about and come to love. Anyways, after many, many, many, months, maybe years (okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration...), I finally thought I was ready to face this book, and I'm so, so glad I did. I didn't regret anything! Well, maybe I do regret the part about not reading this awesome book sooner. This author is AWESOME and I shouldn't have doubted her, at all. She is THE BEST, and I loved every single page of this book, and it was just...awesome. (I used awesome a lot, I know, I know...)

    WHAT I LIKED:
The humour. Oh my gosh, I loved how funny this book was, it had me laughing out loud, and if there were people near me, I'm sure I'd be getting some awkward stares. Everything else was good too, but it was the witty and cutting remarks, and the sarcastic jokes that the characters in the book made that was really the highlight.

Nick. Of course I had to have a section dedicated to my precious Nick. Besides his awesome sense of humour, I loved his goodness. He is the Malachai. The worst, most powerful, and evil demon alive. And yet, he is so kind, so compassionate, so loving. He treats his enemies with a firm, but gentle hand, even though those enemies have treated his with nothing but cruelty. And he can make even the most dire situations happier and lighter. Nick is just such a GOOD GUY, and there are no words to describe how awesomely awesome he is. No words. At all. Oh, gosh, I do envy Kody, she is so lucky to have someone like Nick as a boyfriend.

    WHAT I DISLIKED:
I can't really think of anything to dislike about this book, but hmm...if I had to pick something, I think I'd choose the super long chapters. I'm a fan of reading short chapters, even if the book itself is long, reading short chapters just seems to make the book fly by that much faster. But actually, the length of the chapters in this book is such a minor thing.

All in all, this book was fantabulous and I absolutely can't wait for the next one.

Nick wakes up to find himself in an alternative universe, where he doesn't look like himself and where his powers aren't working, he lifves a mundane life in this world and things are not looking good for him. With the help of some friends he has to fight for his right to live and to keep the world, and his mum, safe.

I really enjoyed it, Nick is so sarky and he really does try to see the best in people, it was an entertaining read, nothing too deep but a fun ride, and it kept me reading.

Contemporary, Paranormal, Young AdultNew Orleans Nick Gautier is finding that as tired as he is of his destiny that sometimes when you wish for something else you might get it and that life just might end up worse. He doesn’t want to be destined to end the world as the son of a demon. He is also tired of demons and other preternatural creatures that want him dead. He is wishing for normal problems and to just be a normal teen.Nick ends up getting sucked into an alternate reality where he finds that normality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In the alternate reality his mother is married to his mentor and his best friend back home who is also an Atlantean god is in this reality a human geek. Nick learns that no life is free of pain and that every person has their own place in the universe. Even when you are the son of a hated demon. More importantly he learns that the powers he thought were a curse aren’t and that the world needs a champion. Especially when that champion is the last person the world’s enemies see coming to help the very people he is supposed to destroy. Now as Nick works to restore his real world old enemies and new friends will square off for another battle that will either bring him back or end him forever. This is another book that takes the reader on a ride that will have them never seeing what is coming next. It will also have readers eagerly counting down the days until the next book comes out. This is proving to be one series that doesn’t get old and gets better with each new book that comes out. Reading how Nick gets out of all the trouble he constantly gets into makes for a very fun series that will keep readers laughing at his antics. It is also interesting to see how Nick’s early life it changing and evolving. This one proves to be fun with all the characters being completely different in the alternate reality that has a great deal of humor and blindsides the readers with everything that comes at Nick. It is fun to see Nick approach all that comes at him with his usual humor and smart mouth. This is proving to be a very entertaining series.

"Topsy-Turvy" Well when we last heard from Nick he escaped death for like the millionth time and he awakes to an environment which looks like home but is that Bubba married to his mom. So as the story begins in this book Nick starts in out in reality where any normal kid would be happy and since Nick has always wanted to be normal he should be happy with this life. Alas too much has changed and some of the changes are way to different for Nick to take so he begins to look for a way out and by the way he is now powerless. Now I have your attention don't I...This is another great installment in the Chronicles of Nick storyline. I am currently reading Dark Hunter series as these books come out and I am loving the new take on Nick and his future. I look forward to each new installment and this one didn't dissatisfy. If you like young adult fantasy or just straight fantasy then you will enjoy the chronicles of Nick and if you can deal with some romance in your fantasy action books you will like Kenyon's Dark Hunter series as well.Hope you enjoy your next reading/listening adventure

Adequate plot, much of what we are used to with the series but the books are lagging in general and I do not know how many readers are going to hang in there for 5 more books.
