Author

Ann Aguirre

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ann Aguirre has been a clown, a clerk, a savior of stray kittens, and a voice actress, not necessarily in that order. She loves video games, Korean dramas, music, dogs and cats, and staring at the sea. Though she writes all kinds of genre fiction, she has a major soft spot for a happily ever after.

A delightful cosy urban fantasy with strong found family trope. No need to read the previous books beforehand.

A lovely cozy book with great, well rounded characters. The main female protagonist took a bit to get used to but all in all a lovely book

I thought this was such a cute book! Once I got started it was hard to put down. I loved all the characters and plot. I thought Iris and Eli were great main characters. I liked the duel point of view. Plus I loved the whole found family aspect and how the house also is almost a character in itself. I will definitely be reading more by this author. Also I love the narrator of the audiobook.

I liked it at the beginning, but the end felt dull, and I just felt bad for Eli… just, I don’t know, to sugary…

It was a really interesting book until the last quarter of the book. The book was still good, everything just was happening too fast at the end. I feel like they were in a rush to finish the story and I would have liked to read more about who Iris was since a major part of the story was Iris being unsure of where she comes from.

    The Story:

I forgot how much I love a found family story. This one is excellent. I immediately loved the characters. Some of them doubt themselves a lot but I think they work through it well with the help of each other. I love how this little island of misfits take care of each other and never hesitate. Iris’s parentage adds a certain mystery but I gotta say I’m not sure I got all of the intricacies of what she is. All and all I enjoyed my time with these characters and hope I get to see more of them in the future.

It was so terrible. I made myself finish listening to it. Each consecutive book in this series became increasingly worse. It was like reading something a 14 year old who is confused about her sexuality and mad at her family would write. The dialogue was immature and ridiculous.
