About this audiobook

It was an invite to die for…

When the anonymous invite arrived, we knew exactly who it was from.

Elle Romero, the beautiful, charismatic Texan who burst into our lives when we were teenagers.

We'd gone our separate ways and lost touch. Until now.

Elle, the legendary prankster, is back.

She's invited us all - me, Claire, Lizzie and Megan - to a swanky country house for a reunion.

We arrive excited for a weekend of reminiscing and reconnecting. A chance to step out of our uneventful lives for a while.

But when Elle fails to show up at her own party, we begin to wonder if she's up to her old tricks.

And when a body turns up in the cellar, it seems this time the joke might just be on us…

The Invite is the twisty, addictive new thriller by A J McDine, author of No One I Knew.

I enjoyed this until the end and then all I could think was what just happened. An entertaining read and the narrators were all very good. I really liked the character of Tara the most, she was certainly the most compassionate and empathetic of the bunch. I thought all these women except Megan had pretty wanker lazy guys for husbands. I figured out pretty early on what was going on. Still worth a good three stars for an interesting story. I am wondering if the author plans a sequel and I would certainly be interested in listening to or reading it. Oddly enough the next book on my reading list is the Last Word which is about book reviews, kind of makes you think about how to evaluate someone's hard work. So kudos from now on to all authors because I certainly couldn't do what you do.

I would call this more of a mystery/drama than a thriller. It took quite awhile to actually get to the action of the book. I did enjoy the narrators though, and how you got to know the women in the story.
