Gareth L. Powell's Embers of War won 2018 BSFA Award for Best Novel and was shortlisted for the 2019 Locus Awards and the 2021 Seiun Awards in Japan. Sensational. Really enjoyed the back story, the characters were great, events were epic and nerve-wracking at times. Only a ish there were more books with this setting, very interesting.
