About this audiobook

It was a virgin land of vast horizons... a land of dreams and dust and blood, where men sought glory and hope died hard. But for Jamie Ian MacCallister, who'd grown to manhood among Indians and fought at the Alamo, war and wilderness were home... and survival was a way of life.

From the battlegrounds of Texas to the Colorado Rockies and the goldfields of California, Jamie MacCallister was one of a handful of daring pioneers blazing trails in the American West. Joining famed frontiersman Kit Carson on the first U.S. Army expedition from Missouri to the wide Pacific, he forged a future in a dawning era of greatness and greed that would stain the pages of history with blood and make men like MacCallister into legends...

The only thing that would make this serious better is to have Mort Shelby as Preacher. This other guy is NOT! Too goofy. But I love it! Just hard to get user to it when it's different from ALL the other books worth Preacher. WHY????

Jamie Ian MacCallister is a man who was captured and raised by Shawnee Indians until he escaped. Jamie had returned to the place where he was taken care of by a couple who had no children. Then, he left their home and took Kate as his wife, though Kate’s family sought revenge. Now, Jamie and Kate are parents raising their children while carving out a living in the wilderness. The place Jamie picked for them to live is a valley where families can grow and nurture their children. Often times Jamie leaves the hearth sometimes to aid others, sometimes to defend the people in the valley from harm. The first book in the series, Eyes of Eagles, Jamie has many adventures including fighting at the Alamo. Here Jamie is asked to scout a vast and virgin area of land in order that maps can be created. The way the book is written made history come alive for me within the fictional framework. The Dreams of Eagles continues to tell the many exploits of Jamie and Kate MacCallister and their children. In the book, I sensed a shift of focus from Jamie and Kate to Falcon, the youngest of their children.Enjoy the tale of the MacCallister clan in the late 1800s, the never-ending battle not just to survive but to thrive in an unforgiving time and place! Come along on some wild and tense adventures in Dreams of Eagles!
