“I’M a harrier man through and through,” young huntsman Jamie Crosse told Horse & Hound. “A lot of foxhound lads don’t like them, ‘cos they can’t manage them. If you go messing with harriers they’ll break your heart. You can’t gee them up too much; they have to be settled at all times.”
John Finucane, who hunted the Stonehall Harriers for 11 seasons, agrees.
“They have a freer nature; they’re not as disciplined as the foxhound. I think you’re going back to the real old Irish hunting; up the hills with them and let ’em off.”
