I wish I could read this book, as from reviews, it sounds fantastic! I have old eyes, though, and the print is very small. I will give it to my pastor.I received this book from LT for my honest review.

I embraced the early chapters as a balanced debate between science and theism. As the eleven topical chapters progressed, I found less of this balance. The author was open about that, and relied in part on the arguments made along the way as reason to tip in one direction. That criticism aside, I found this a compelling and thoughtful argument. It covers also covers some basic philosophical concepts that I hadn’t understood before, such as reductionism. I’ve read more than average in this genre and still found multiple novel and convincing points.

Paul does an excellent job exploring and explaining the reason why we know God exists. Writing in such a way that even an average person can understand. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Good and True Story offers a fresh perspective on Christian apologetics. This book takes readers on a journey, examining eleven clues in the world that underlie a Christian worldview. I've read many books on apologetics over the years. Before I began reading this book, I couldn't imagine what it offered that other books do not. However, I believe Gould is immensely successful in capturing his readers attention through the use of story and imagination. I believe many young adults (such as myself) are yearning for an explanation of the world that is not simply true but also compelling and beautiful. Gould provides a nuanced perspective on some old subjects (like the origin of the universe and humanity) while also delving into less discussed arguments (like beauty and happiness). I appreciated his humor and interesting illustrations throughout the book.Gould is a philosopher, so some readers may find his arguments challenging or unfamiliar. There were times that I wished he would elaborate more on his arguments, but I recognize that he had space constraints. Overall, however, I think this book is a great introduction to a Christian apologetic and will spark many conversations among Christians and non-Christians alike.I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions in this review are my own.

I received this book in a giveaway from the publisher, and reviewing it for LibraryThing's early reviewers program.I've only recently learned about Christian apologetics, and that this book arrived soon after seems like Big Brother really is watching.Starting with discussion about evenly split between science and religion, Gould uses philosophy to build a case leaning further towards religion as it goes on and attempts to explain the unexplainable great questions of life, creation, and the existence of God.
