About this audiobook

The world needs real men, real bad. And there are all sorts of conflicting ideas and messages about what a "real man" is (and is not). Is a real man one who hunts, loves sports, grills meat, fixes cars, and climbs mountains? Sure, sometimes. But that's not really the point of being a man and it's not the purpose for which men were made.

Into our cultural confusion, Brant Hansen paints a refreshingly specific, compelling picture of what men are made to be: "Keepers of the Garden." Protectors and defenders. He calls for men of all interests and backgrounds (including "avid indoorsmen" like himself) to be ambitious about the right things and to see themselves as defenders of the vulnerable, with whatever resources they have.

Using short chapters loaded with must-have wisdom and Brant's signature humor, The Men We Need explains the essence of masculinity in a fresh, thoughtful, and entertaining way that will inspire any man who dares to listen.

First audio book experience and an absolutely amazing experience. Life affirming for me. Aptly put into words beliefs I’ve long held & has provided me a platform to share with other men starting with my 14 year old son then his 13 year old brother and many Dads & sons after that.
The humor while keeping the main thing the main thing was done so brilliantly. Made it easy to really introspect and feel empowered to change rather than judged to fail.
    God richly bless you.

Soulful, genuine narration and insightful, wise content, The Men We Need must be read by anybody who wants to see themselves grow in influence to all those around them. Brant uses humor unique to his voice and writes with humility, making this book not only fun to read/ hear but makes you, to some real degree, know the author as he writes. Brant writes with conviction, not judgment, and wisdom absent of pride. To those of all backgrounds and gender, this book is necessary reading to understand the full potential of men -- who they can be, how to encourage them when they begin fulfilling their purpose, and why this issue is a cornerstone to the health and vitality of every community, big and small. Just read it.

Recommended by a friend. I enjoyed the audiobook a lot. It’s easy to follow, entertaining and at the same time sharp and a call to action to be the man we are supposed to be.

You Know Enough to Do ThisBrant Hansen has written books about misfits, human nature, anger, and The Men We Need is just as radically important. Why Radically? Because, as Brant says, it is counter culture. Brant’s writing is simple, easy to understand, and approachable. Intentionally starting a conversation about the definition of masculinity, and who men are supposed to be. None of what Brant writes is new. It is common knowledge. It is written clearly in the Bible. The problem is that it is rarely put into action, it is deliberately misunderstood, and our world is actively against men. Men who are willing to protect others, men who are actively caring for the garden, men who are loyal to God. This book is not about guilt or accusations, but learning from experience. With plenty of funny antidotes, awkward relatable stories, and Lord of the Rings quotes to laugh about. Though this book is for men, women need to read this book too. To know what a man does, to support loyal men, and to raise future men. This is a book that needs to be talked about, and shared. We could all use a few more keepers of the garden.
