- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I must say that I loved this book. I borrowed it from my library, because I have become so tired of management books, that I decided that I would never buy another one. I decided, in fact, that I would only buy books on specific topics. When I picked up this book, I must say that I was intrigued by the cover, and I thought that I would check it out to see if it would live up to the cover. The book surpassed anything that I had thought about from the cover. This book is brilliant, because it goes back to the core, to timeless principles that we often forget in our mad urge to surpass the last quarter's targets. Management often says one thing and does another. This is the cynical me speaking, but I have seen that the people 'lower' down the rungs do see this difference between management-speaka and management-behaviour, which is why, in this year's WEF findings, top management was seen to be only slightly more credible than the politicians. If indeed top management, nay - people at all levels, apply the principles enunciated in the book, then indeed we will be in a better place. When I read about The Leadership Diamond, I thought - here comes one more tool. Yet, when I went deeper and deeper into the book, I found that the explanation of the Diamond, and the sub-Diamonds struck a deep emotional chord with me.I was not too happy with some of the chapters on the implementation techniques, as I felt that these could have been dealt with in some more depth. However, the fact also remains, is that I would love to see Prof Koestenbaum taking me through the principles in person, and not just in the book. A brilliant book, one that I shall now buy on my Kindle!
