About this audiobook

#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews is back with the newest book in the exciting Hidden Legacy series—the thrilling conclusion to her trilogy featuring fierce and beautiful Prime magic user Catalina Baylor.

An escaped spider, the unexpected arrival of an Imperial Russian Prince, the senseless assassination of a powerful figure, a shocking attack on the supposedly invincible Warden of Texas, Catalina’s boss... And it’s only Monday.

Within hours, the fate of Houston—not to mention the House of Baylor—now rests on Catalina, who will have to harness her powers as never before. But even with her fellow Prime and fiancé Alessandro Sagredo by her side, she may not be able to expose who’s responsible before all hell really breaks loose.

Author

Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian, and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.) They have co-authored four New York Times and USA Today bestselling series: the urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles. They live in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

    Ohhhhhh so good!!!!

Caterina is head of House of Baylor responsible for her family and their business dealings, but she is also the Warden of Texas responsible to ensure that magic is practiced within their laws. Assassins are targeting the Baylor's and enemies are everywhere. The family is attacked by powerful Primes who want them all dead. Alessandro finally confronts his father's murderer. Baylor family secrets are exposed when an unknown family member is revealed. A family enemy becomes a family ally. Every chapter is filled with scene after scene of action or a build-up to action. So many challenges for Caterina who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Loved the romance between Caterina and Alessandro but would have liked more heat. They not only have a deep love, loyalty and respect for each other, but they also have an uncanny understanding of the others wants and needs. I love their relationship.

The only thing I don't like is that we will have to wait another year for the next book. I am looking forward to the next book......whenever it is published.

RUBY FEVER concludes Catalina Baylor's arc of stories and is an action-packed thrill ride from the first page to the last. From a missing exotic, endangered and very expensive spider in their offices to a final all-out attack by Arkan who wants them all dead problems are showing up on all sides. When a Prince from the Russian Imperium arrives, it adds still more complications. And when Alessandro's evil grandfather tries again to sell him to another House and his would-be fiancée arrives, it doesn't help. But the biggest issues are the murder of the Speaker of the Texas State Assembly and the near-fatal attack on Catalina's boss Linus Duncan who happens to be the Warden of Texas. With LInus comatose, maybe permanently, the office of the Warden becomes Catalina's responsibility with the Speaker's Death being one of the biggest problems. However, the Arkans misuse of the Osiris serum which he stole and has been selling to Prime families is also a big problem. He has tweaked the formula, but it still kills one in five of those who take it. Those who survive suddenly have Prime magical abilities but no training in their use. Still some families are willing to try it on their duds and less powerful House members. The story was fast-paced and gave most of the characters we've come to love in earlier books in the series time on center stage. I really like Catalina both in her relationship with her family and in her relationship with Alessandro. Fans of the series won't want to miss this story.

Crisp and heavy action, a dash of sex, and all the pieces moving all the time keeps the conclusion of Catalina's story absorbing and absurd in equal measure. Comp, comp, the potato chips are savory.

Similar review to another perspective that this is an absolute bore. There was little character development. The protagonist plays on the broken and weak character too much.

Loved the books about Nevada. This portion was not as compelling. This particular book kept skipping so it was hard to follow the story.

What a let down, I love her books and this one was so boring, I didn’t even care about the characters (which I loved in past books of the series). Waste of time, I only got half way through.

Catalina head of her house is in love with a hot Italian man, Alessandro. and he loves her. Both powerful primes, both from complicated families. If that isn’t enough there is a mega maniac trying to kill him, the Russian Federation prince in town, someone indestructible is taken out, and there is that pesky family thing. Poor Catalina, she really got dumped on in this book, Alessandro too. I love them as a couple, strong, independent and devoted. They are a dream team. When their work threw everything at them, they fought side by side till..We got a little visit from a previous famous couple in the Ilona Andrews bookverse. :DIntense, fun, action packed, snarky, good time reading ! The Ilona Andrews team delivers again !

I loved this book! I am convinced that the writing pair of Ilona Andrews can do no wrong. That is the only explanation that makes any sense. This book had everything that I had hoped it would have and I enjoyed every moment that I spent reading it. The story was exciting, unexpected, funny, and sometimes touching. I am so glad that I decided to pick up this entertaining novel.Catalina has a lot of problems to juggle in this book. There is a Russian Prince causing trouble and the Warden of Texas has suffered an attack. She needs to find out who is behind it all and try to figure out how to find a resolution that will keep everyone safe. There were some pretty big surprises worked into this story that left me speechless. I loved the magic and action in this story which kept me turning pages as quickly as possible. It was great catching up with all of the key players in this series. Catalina and Alessandra are a wonderful couple and I loved how dedicated they were to each other. I love the way we have watched these characters grow as individuals and in their powers over the course of this series. The story was really serious at times but it had a nice dose of humor sprinkled through the book as well.I would highly recommend this series to others. This is the sixth book in the Hidden Legacy series which I would read in order if at all possible. I do hope that we see more books set in this world featuring this group of characters at some point in the future.I received a review copy of this book from Avon Books.

I do so love spending time with House Baylor. I love the sheer destructive power in these books, and the loyalty and the decency. This one has some great secrets revealed, reunions, new alliances and action packed adventure. What a delight!Advanced Reader's Copy provided by Edelweiss.

Review to come but it ends with 2 little epilogues that I loved.

The third book to feature Catalina now has the family living in a large compound since the destruction of warehouse in the previous book. She finds herself having to figure out who attacked Duncan and why certain parties are interested in helping her. I will say this book wraps up threads that have been dangling since the beginning of the series. There is a nice HEA for the book to end on and I really hope we get books focusing on Arabella since she is the last of the sisters that hasn’t found a love.

I will have to say if there is a line that really shines a light on Cornelius and even if he never falls in love again, I would like to see more about him and his powers. There is so much to discover about the various powers that run in the family and in the different houses I so hope we get lots more in this story universe.

Absolutely enjoyable. Whenever I think Ilona Andrews can't write a greater story I'm surpried. The young lady did a wonderful job narrating the book. Well worth the wait. Ready for another book.

This arrived on Wednesday, and I tried, I really did, to hold out for Halloween Bingo.  I made it 2 whole hours before I caved.  I don't think I'll need it for HB, but if I do, I'm happy to re-read it.I admit that of the two sets of characters in Hidden Legacies, I prefer Nevada and Connor, featured in the first 3.  I think in part because there was less romance and more telekinesis; I think I prefer someone throwing huge things around to hand-to-hand combat and magic singing.  Still, it's the same family and it's the family that pulls me in and makes me want to re-read, as much as the action.A couple of random things: I was not surprised by the revelation of Caesar's identity; I had that nailed after book 1.  I was surprised at Andrews' attempts to humanise Victoria, and the whole 'we love you even though you're terrible'.  I did not buy that at all.  I was also a little surprised by Grandpa, although I shouldn't have been; I remember well Allessando's muttered comment in the first Catalina book. The story wraps up all the open threads, while definitely leaving a few openings for Arabella's story, presumably in books 7-9, but I read something on the authors' site about 'now that we're through with main-steam publishing' that makes me wonder if Arabella will get her three books or not, and if so, if we're going to have to wait years for the authors' to get around to writing them. (I'm getting bitter about how long it's taken to get Hugh's second book, never mind Julie's).

Ruby Fever is the sixth book in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews and concludes Catalina's trilogy. A shocking attack has left the Warden of Texas incapacitated and it's up to Catalina Baylor to untangle the mystery before all hell breaks loose in Houston. It feels so good to return to the world of Hidden Legacy and the Baylor family. I've missed them. I am always blown away by the depth of the world building and how creative the authors are with all the various magic types. Speaking of which, I like that we see an expanded version of Catalina's siren powers. Knowing that the authors may not be returning to this world made for a bittersweet read. So many twists and turns. That reveal with Linus I did not see coming at all! It makes me want to reread the whole series to see if I can spot the hints on a second read through. I'm a bit dubious about how they handled Victoria though. I have a feeling that could be a very bad idea. While the final confrontation with Arkan was satisfying, the ending felt rushed as all loose threads are brought together. I think the authors tried to answer everything just in case this is truly the end. I am hoping that the epilogue was a hint that maybe this isn't the end after all and Arabella will still get her own trilogy.

Series Info/Source: This is the sixth book in the Hidden Legacy series, the third and final book in the trilogy featuring Catalina Baylor. I borrowed this on ebook from my library.Thoughts: I was incredibly excited to read the final book in Catalina's story and this book definitely met my expectations. It is pretty much non-stop action from beginning to end and I absolutely loved it. Every time I read an Andrews' book I am reminded what awesome urban fantasy should be!This book dives right in. The Warden of Texas has been attacked, another powerful magical figure is murdered, an expensive spider is lost and an Imperial Russian Prince wanders in to help (kind of). Catalina is a designated Warden and all of this falls on her plate at once. Not to mention she has finally purchased a large property for House Baylor to call their home and is trying to get settled in there. Alessandro is supportive and by her side for everything even as his own family issues start to rear their ugly head. This was perfect. I loved the magic, the plot, the characters, and all the action. Catalina is hard-working and incredibly smart and strategic throughout. She has an excellent support network in her family and allies and all of them are pushed to their limits when battle comes to the House of Baylor. The action was seriously non-stop and the plot was fast-paced and complex; I had trouble catching my breath at points. There were a couple very well done love scenes between Catalina and Alessandro but romance definitely wasn't a focus in this book. This wraps up Catalina's trilogy in the Hidden Legacy series very nicely and it actually wraps up the whole series fairly well. There are some hints of a future book involving Catalina's younger sister, Arabella, but that hasn't been confirmed and I could see it releasing as a novella or something later. My Summary (5/5): Overall I really loved this book. It wraps up the Hidden Legacy series and Catalina's trilogy perfectly. This was incredibly engaging and easy to read. The action and magic were non-stop and I loved it all. I would highly recommend this whole series to paranormal/urban fantasy fans. I am hoping there is just one more book for Arabella..or maybe even just a novella.

4.5After an attack on a prominent Texas House leader and the Warden of Texas, Catalina and House Baylor will be called upon to untangle the web of conspiracy to save themselves and those they care about. Ruby Fever is truly the culmination of everything built in Catalina's trilogy. The stakes are high and very personal, especially for Alessandro who will finally face the man he's been targeting since his father's death. But none of this comes without challenge.Whenever I start a new Ilona Andrews novel, I just find myself falling into the story. I realize how much I've missed their writing and the characters and world they've built. I will read any and everything they write. Period. The writing team of Ilona Andrews are my favorite authors. Full stop. If you're a long-time reader of theirs, you will recognize all the things that make them great at what they do. I won't say that Ruby Fever is without its flaws. There were quite a few times while reading that I felt like things were progressing too quickly and there were moments that could have been fleshed out a little broader with some things I felt thrown in off the cuff in a nostalgic way seeing as how this is the final book of Catalina's trilogy. Even with those qualms, Ruby Fever is a fun, entertaining read. I love that we're still learning new things about this family and their powers. Catalina has grown so much from the slightly meek young woman in the previous trilogy to the take-no-sh** head of her House. I loved that, after the previous book, we get to see Catalina and Alessandro in an established relationship and see them working through the tough times that will inevitably continue to follow them around. The tying up of the story threads and how those threads also extended from the first trilogy into this one has been done exceptionally well. I do wonder where this leaves things for youngest Baylor sister Arabella. My fingers are crossed that she'll get her own trilogy (I mean it would only be right). There are some very interesting encounters with some Imperial Russian Princes that Arabella finds herself enmeshed within and I always love seeing her get to flex her power. Overall, another action-packed entry in the series for a pair of authors who have never let me down!
